Default Preferred steering wheel diameter?

I have the Momo mod 07 steering wheel at 350 mm diameter. Lately I’ve been thinking it’s slightly small…..for comfort but also for visibility of dials.

Interested in the thoughts of those who have tried a 370 mm diameter wheel compared to a 350 mm.

Moved to the 964 forum!!

Mine is a 360mm - which I was unsure of when I ordered it.

But it's actually turned out to be perfect for me.

I have a Momo Competition 350mm on my 85 911. I replaced my OEM wheel as I have with two other G-bodies. The 380mm OEM wheel is too thin and big.

I loved the wheel but was not happy with the partially hidden speedo and oil pressure gauges. So I bought a Momo Prototipo 370mm last month. With the 370mm I can see all the instruments OK (I am average in size and have the seat where most people would). And it was much easier to park the car and in all black it looked great.

After a week or two of driving around with the 370mm, my old 350mm reappeared on my 911. It is personal taste. I prefer the smaller wheel and the thicker rim. It is a matter of personal taste. The 370mm is a huge jump up from OEM on every level and I loved the near-perfect view of the five gauges.

I went on a back country PCA tour Sunday and I am much happier with the 350. The only hook is I have to lean a bit to peek the all-important oil temp gauge. But hey, this is a Porsche!

If anyone wants to buy my 370, you can get a very good deal. It's the black edition. Used about 50 miles for a week or so. I It is perfect. I paid, with tax and shipping, $285. So make me an offer.

I installed a 930S wheel in my 89 about 10 years ago when the prices were somewhat reasonable and i have to say
it’s the most comfortable wheel i have ever driven with …
Not sure of the diameter but it's larger than the two OMP steering wheels i use in the SP2 car.

Cheers
Phil

I like the 350mm in my SC. Feels especially great with the Turbo tie rods & narrow (205) fronts. Just rotated my speedo so I could see the speeds that matter.

That is a good idea, you only see the tach rotated, I'll try this to see the 60-75 band

Early 911 steering wheels were much wider [38cm (’73 RS), 40cm (’68-’73), 42cm (’65-’68)]. Here's a photo of my factory prototype wood wheel (42cm) installed in my '69T. It feels bit like driving a bus.

How difficult compared to a stock steering wheel is it to park/steer at low speeds with the 350?

When I went from the 350 to the 370 it was noticeably easier to turn. But with the 350mm, the driving experience is way more fun so I switched back

I spend a lot more time driving vs. parking as well ;-)

Default Momo vintage Prototipo

I went from the turbo 360 to the Momo Vintage Tipo in 370!
Much easier to turn on twisty roads. Great look too in a already vintage interior 😎
