Default Debris in oil filter

In May, my 2001 996 engine was dropped and among other “While you’re in there” pieces parts installed were new Vario cam chain tensioners. The car had thrown a lazy cam code, and at 94k it was time. This past week I did an oil flush and found that the filter had quite a few pieces of what look like the orange/yellow tensioners. Over the last couple weeks I had noticed that the car was making a chattering noise at cold start that quickly subsided and did not present on subsequent starts once the car was warmed up.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience? Is it possible that there is a run in period where this might occur? Any thoughts are welcome in regard to how to approach repair.

I’m not familiar with those yellow bits. Normally, aged and disintegrating tensioner pad debris looks very dark brown or red (black if it’s the IMS tensioner pad). Are these bits hard or soft and squishy?

No sir, hard just like the tensioner material. Will be dropping oil pan and expect to find bits form original guides and compare those in filter.
Thanks for your time

It looks like new pads are yellow or light brown. Hmm, it would be strange if the new pads are disintegrating.

BTW, you posted in the 911 forum, but normally you’d post in the 996 subforum.

Just to let you know you are in the wrong forum, this is a technical forum for 911s. ( that would be cars up to 89. ) you own a 996 and that is a completely different beast. You would likely garner more results if you posted in the water cooled section under 996..
cheers
