Default Debris in oil filter

In May, my 2001 996 engine was dropped and among other “While you’re in there” pieces parts installed were new Vario cam chain tensioners. The car had thrown a lazy cam code, and at 94k it was time. This past week I did an oil flush and found that the filter had quite a few pieces of what look like the orange/yellow tensioners. Over the last couple weeks I had noticed that the car was making a chattering noise at cold start that quickly subsided and did not present on subsequent starts once the car was warmed up.
I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience? Is it possible that there is a run in period where this might occur? Any thoughts are welcome in regard to how to approach repair.
