Where to look for air-cooled cars in Europe
Hey all.
I’m starting a hunt for an air-cooled 911 and was wondering what European sites should I be looking at.
Most of the North American cars have gauges and odometre in miles, and I prefer kilometres. I know that I can try and find a rest of the world 911 in North America, and that’s definitely a part of the strategy.
Looking for cars in Europe is also a part of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you think about continuing to look for an NA car and then just changing the gauges? Might be quite a bit simpler, and make it more likely that you could look at the car and/or set up a PPI. I'd give North Hollywood Speedometer a shout.

That doesn't surprise me at all. My 89 Carrerra is a Canadian market car sold new at MCL in Vancouver, so it has the KM odometer. Even the "50,000 km" red 88 Vancouver Porsche is selling for $150,000 has a US odometer. I don't think anyone is going to mess with that after spending that level of cash.

I do *NOT* know what you do with the title, in the US, at least, about the change in numbers reported. If I were a buyer and the seller presented pics and other documentation I don't think I'd have much of a problem with it. I understand it's going to cost $2k+ US to import a car you've probably never seen (and I have boughtunseen) plus all the customs and registration time and money. I think I'd check out gauge options first.

If you're looking to view the European marketplace, autoscout24.com and mobile.de are pretty good starting places. Each country has its own set of classified ads marketplaces, but the market for 911's is bigger than most domestic markets, so a lot of people list on these "larger" sites. I found my car this way, after it was initially listed in Belgium but the buyers did not see it, and so listing it through autoscout24 it found buyers and the seller was happy (and so was I of course).
