Considering G-Series

Considering G-Series
Hi All - question for the forum. I'm considering getting into a 1989 Carrera targa - white, 30k miles, 1 owner, clean and unmolested. Garage space does not permit adding to the existing cars and I would need to swap out between either a 1995 993 tip, a 997.1 Carrera 4S or a 997.1 turbo tip. The existing cars are all no-stories very well specced examples. Opinions sought please, have cross posted in the other forums. Thank so much!

Sorry but this post just reeks of humble bragging to me , what do you want us to tell you ? if you want to buy a classic 911 go ahead trade in one o those modern run of the mill appliances if you want to , really has nothing to do with a technical 911 forum where we help people fix cars.
Sorry if i sound like a d!ck but i call em as i see em.

Hi Iceman - wow - apologies in your message notwithstanding I don't think that your response is called for. My experience is that Rennlist is a forum for folks to share their passion for Porsche - be they air cooled / water cooled / transaxle / whatever. As such my post was intended merely to solicit informed opinions. A snap judgement as you have made with near zero context is a little hectic, no? And I also call em as I see em.

I agree that the 997.1 Turbo tip is the outlier. But why would you care what anybody else thinks? They are your cars, your preference. But if your avatar is showing your garage, why not just park your cars a bit closer together?

The avatar was taken at the dealer 😂. I'm pretty close to what I'd call an optimal mix right now and hoping to draw on the experiences of Rennlisters were I to make a change. That said, the opinions expressed thus far are extremely diverse - which is in itself an answer to the question.

Best of luck with your '89 acquisition.
I made a similar move one year ago. Replaced a 997.2 PDK with the '87 20k mile Targa below...

Iceman's reply is typical of his usual responses - to disparage and belittle others and their opinions in this forum - one that he does not even support with membership.

In defense of the OP - he did request opinions on the options he's faced with given the acquisition of the G Series car.

It takes courage to speak what you feel and not just look over your shoulder and make sure your response aligns with others. You are obviously from the newer softer gentler don't hurt my feelings generation. You come on a public forum you want opinions you are going to get them. Ypu might like some you might not like some, but do you come on forums to hear the truth or have your *** kissed ? . when you grow hair on your ***** come back.
