Seats:

What's best practice for refurbing a blown-out seat bolster?

This car looks to have some decent sheepskin seat covers, but I'll likely be looking into repairing the driver's seat.

FWIW, I had similar seat covers in one of my Beetles many moons ago and actually loved them, summer and winter.

This would be a great opportunity for new seat covers with tartan plaid inserts!!

Look at https://relicate.com/collections/porsche-fabric

is that Cork ???

seat covers can be replaced but finding seat backs matching the base might be challenging. I replaced seat lowers with 76 cork ones on mine and it was pretty easy. I might have cork seat backs (upright section ) if yours is cork. I cant remember if i bought all 4 used good ones or just the lowers.

I thought it was cork as well, but the eBay listing says it is cinnamon.

The car comes with a Porsche Cert of Auth and I'm assuming it says cinnamon.

I just watched a video on the PCA You Tube site.....
It speaks about your color car and the interior colors. Seems that at the end of the run for cork/cinnamon some cars got a little of both colors. Might want to take a peek.

yeah but it does make you think why they make 2 colours so close lol...

but just so you are aware those are actually seat covers on your car ( not the sheep skin the actual seat ) . They can be removed and replaced. .

That would be best practice in my mind. I actually was lucky enough to have some material for mine and an upholstery shop replaced the bolsters and it looked good before i found other seats .

Here is another option as i bought these seats for 200 bucks, not sure if they were factory or if an upholstery shop did this, but i love these seats and now my original ones are stored.

I might be able to shed some info on this car, my Dad is the seller. How much do you want to know and do you want me to post it here or shoot you an email?

I’ll gladly take the entire CA compliant parts.
heat exchangers, thermal reactors, EGR system, air pump, abs muffler. I have a nice setup but unfortunately it’s frowned upon here in CA. I have a 77 that is need CA smog.

That’s excellent! Nice to see a pic in its element.

I’d love to know as much as possible about Dad’s car. Jeff is his name, I think. It’s a beautiful car and I’d love to have something to offer about it’s history should anyone decide to chat me up. I have a feeling it will be a pretty popular car in these parts.

Service records would be nice for starters. It’s going to Jack Morris’ shop next week to remove the thermal reactors and replace the heat exchangers and muffler. Jack wanted to know the last time it had a valve adjustment. I couldn’t help.

I’d love to chat about it. I’ll pm you my phone number.

Almico, sent you a few emails and I was able to find the original receipt for the refresh done in 2011 before my Dad got it. Make sense why this car drives so damn smoothly. I am super jealous my 3.2 doesn't feel half as nice. As you see in the email you now also have the PO's info so please update us all if you find anything else about it's previous life that is of interest. Regarding records, Dad says the owners manual is included and shows a lot of records going back 3 or 4 owners, so make sure you get that from Klaus. Oh also the interior is Cinnamon per the COA says Dad.

I hope you update us all on the drive and as I mentioned in the email, if you ever sell it, please hit me up first.

Congrats!

almico,

Pcar77 was looking to get his 1977 smog-compliant over on Pelican, and I suggested this thread where he might be able to buy your old parts. But you will want to let the shop know - otherwise they may cut off the reactors to make it easier to remove the exhaust nuts.
