Question Spoiler not on options list

My '88 Targa has a front and rear spoiler. The rear spoiler has the Porsche logo and correct Carrera style and fittings, appears to be OEM. My issue is the option code on the gas tank does not list the spoiler. Did Porsche ever make mistakes on the paper list with the car? Is this OEM factory install or OEM added later. I don't have any other documents just the one sticker I can find.

A lot of spoilers were added at dealers or by owners later. There are also some option code packages, usually a letter/number that were market-specific and included spoilers. These can be trickier to track down. My '84 doesn't have the code for spoilers but has option code E23, which I found was a "sport" package that consisted of front and rear spoilers, sport shocks, 16" Fuchs and limited slip.

Are you aware that you can get a COA from Porsche, for $50 or so? That will contain everything about your car.....

Tell me more about replacement COA. I was told that it was a big deal and you had to have the car inspected for $500 at a my Canadian dealer. I would appreciate knowing more about his.

No, I do not believe they came as "standard". lots of Carreras came without them, and there is no deletion code for spoiler that i'm aware of.

noooooooo, you thinking about a PPI? All you need is to contact Porsche and buy a "Certificate of Authenticity"...

You don't need to buy anything - a dealer can print out the options codes if you ask nicely

If you want a COA, then you'd obviously have to pay for it.

To respond to Ice above and help the OP, here's a couple pics of a cool brochure I have from '84. The Carrera "spoiler" is an option, coupled w/ the front "chin" spoiler. Mine as you can see, has that option.

Not sure what Porsche provides today, but here's what my $50 got me back in '13.
