I weighed my car the other day and it was 2440 with a half a tank... there's not much left to take out of it, unless I toss the carpet and my defrost blower. Anyway that got me thinking about lightening it up more, and maybe taking some (weight) chunks out the back end. I was thinking about a lightweight starter and or alternator. I wasn't able to google an alternator, but I found a lightweight starter that's under 6lbs (5.6). That would drop 9lbs off of the one that I have now... Has anyone heard of these guys? Yeah I’m assuming that’s the one on pelican parts that they list for 8.1lbs, and $250.

it may or may not fit - I had problems with the pelican one

be sure you can return it and think about the shipping costs

I had heard good things about the IMI brand and went with one of theirs. Bolted right on and has been working well for the first few starts. Here is a link to their website.

2440 lbs. is REALLY heavy for an '84 3.2. Is this a racecar? If so, there is lots more weight to be lost easily. Carpet? Of course. Why would you even ask? Defrost blower? Delete the entire blower, heater, and duct system. Get a superlight battery if you haven't already. Of course delete the radio and speaker(s). Replace the headlights/turn signals/taillights and buckets with modern LED systems in lightweight housings. And then maybe delete the headlights (unless you want to do overnight races). Delete the horns. Delete the entire interior. Replace the glass windshields front and rear with lexan and then delete the windshield wiper system. Delete the window washer system. Delete the side windows. Delete the window crank mechanisms. Remove the undercoating. Replace the bumpers, hood, engine decklid, fenders, doors, and roof with CF or FB. The list can go on and on, depending on your purpose.

But if this is not a racecar, why do you even care?

my SC is 2656 in stock form ( 1/2 tank ) with zero efforts to reduce .. i was just at the dump on the weekend dropping off some brake fluid so got it weighed.
i thought that was feather light compared to my 3891 lb A4
