Yes the cmm would measure chassis points, but not quite there with any design for one yet. I started putting together a design for a large 12’ x 6’ high tolerance welding table/frame bench using turn ground polished bar(close to linear shaft in tolerance) and ground 1/2” plate for the top, but steel prices doubling quickly put an end to it.. Id like to have my entire project built by jan 1 so i doubt prices will correct enough by then. Measuring is a significant part of my project since everything is coming out of 3D rigid body dynamics software.. mainly just testing dynamics and validating any designs(models). Basically going to be a FSAE type chassis, w/ 2 seats, rear engine, w/ a 1969 911 shell covering it.. Light and low budget.. Yes definitely post travel and bump steer numbers.. amazing work!

Ok, now I know you're a Mechanical Engineer without saying you're an ME.
I did measure the suspension travel on my car which is pretty low:
Ride Height Rear about 24.5" to non-carrera fender lip. (My car has carrera flares so it actually measures 24")
Ride Height Front is 24.75" to fender lip
Rear droop measured from ride height is 4" and rear compression measured from ride height is 1 7/8"
Front droop measured from ride height is 3.5" and compression is 2"

We found a bent left rear shock:
And an extra washer thingy that beat up the front bump rubbers and limited travel
So crazy what some "Turkeys" do these cars, but it's all better now!
I want to ditch the sugar scoops and upgrade to H4's, but before I do I had to fix the factory wire harness.

I'm confident the car can handle 130W+ bulbs no problem now.
Another use for my new Oxy/Acetylene toy. This time I fixed the the dents in my crushed oil line. Like others have said a little air pressure and heat gets the job done.
The video below shows how I removed the line from the thermostat housing. Not easy, but the cool part is watching the dents disappear like the movie Christine!
Hey Tom, Met you and your 911 at the Manhattan Beach C&C a couple of months ago. You're the hero of every early 911 owner and aspirant. You are disproving the belief that the only way you can build one is with a boatload of cash. Of course most of us don't have your knowledge, persistence and time. Can't wait for the finished product.
