Default 1974 911 Steering Wheel Lock

I picked up a 1974 Targa this past weekend that has been sitting uncovered outside for 3-4 years. The key that was in the car fits in the glove box, door locks etc., but I am not able to turn the ignition lock with it and the steering wheel is locked. I managed somehow to get it on the trailer and it's in my garage now.
Any idea what the easiest way is to get the steering wheel unlocked and the ignition lock cylinder replaced?

Also, my plan is to drain an clean the tank, put some Mystery Oil through the spark plug holes on the pistons, and see if that baby cranks up. Anything else you would do for now? Don't want to put too much money in in case something is wrong with the engine.

Thanks for your help!

After checking the battery is good, connections to the ignition are good...I would start here: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...witch_Repl.htm

Try pulling one way then the other on the steering wheel while turning the key. It might be stuck !

Yea I’ve literally tried for hours. The key is not working. Is there an easy way to replace just the lock cylinder? The whole lock assembly is just $800 by itself.

Update on this: I removed the whole lock assembly and can at least turn the steering wheel now. I also removed the ignition switch and can now turn on ignition using a screwdriver.
But,,,does anyone know what that connector is for (circled in red)?
