Default Anyone Know This Car?

I have received some great advice from the group regarding my search for a 911 SC or Carrera 3.2. I've narrowed down to a cab or targa 911 SC. I've looked at some cars that are local to me and one is a good candidate. I'm also interested in a car that is quite some distance from me and I wonder if anyone is familiar with the car or seller. Here is a link to the listing:

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The good:
  • Looks like an honest, unmolested driver
  • May be original paint
  • Quite presentable interior, leather, carpets, dash, all look good
  • Front underside: Three drain holes behind fuel tank (one with missing rubber plug) do not show the tell-tale staining usually visible if there has been a battery acid leak
  • Rear underside: replaced oil return tubes, new S/S cat or premuffler
  • Engine compartment: looks complete, orange oil filter looks like the Porsche part (good sign)
  • Targa roof looks to be in good shape
What to watch out for
  • Signs of oil seepage under engine. - quite typical actually, but you will want to get an idea of the extent of any leaks
  • Will need to get an idea of oil consumption
  • Also will need to verify all head studs are intact
  • Some normal cosmetic blemishes in the photos, but keep in mind that typically you see a lot more in person. I would expect to see that on a higher mileage driver, but just make sure it matches your expectation on what you are looking for
  • Price: I do not have a good feel for the market, but 39.9K does strike me as a bit high, but not ridiculous. Hopefully some others with more recent market knowledge can help.
  • The dealer: Need to try and get feedback on them... They look to be Porsche and Jeep focused (interesting combo...). There seems to be records, but you are not buying form the prior owner, so it is hard to evaluate some things. The dealer of course is there to make money, but some have a reputation for trying to flip cars with hidden issues... Again, maybe someone with experience will post.

Bottom line: Assuming the price is in line (or you can negotiate to that level) and the car has no "gotchas" (e.g. broken head stud), this looks to be a solid candidate. Original condition is valuable...

Looks like catalytic converter replaced with straight pipe- may not be an issue in your state.

Looks like paint overspray on metal paint tag - unless its my bad eyes seeing a reflection in the photo.

Does the right rear engine lid not align correctly with fender edge?

Love the color and interior, good luck in your search

That pipe looks like it may be a fabspeed sport cat, not catless.

Carfax shows odometer repaired. Seems like, based on the mileage intervals, the odometer stopped working. I doubt the car was driven 2 miles in three plus years. Just driving to and from the smog test center would be more than that. I would have them send you paint meter readings, represent there are no broken head studs, see if the cam chain tensioners have been upgraded, and explain the odometer readings. I would also ask what shape the clutch is in.

Chain tensioners, pop off valve and head studs as others have noted.
