Default Wheel fitment question

Anyone has experience with fitting a 8J on the rear of an early 1969 LWB?
My plan is to run a Pirelli trofeo R 225 in the rear and 205 on the front.
If yes, what ET would work best?

Now I have 195 (7mm spacer) and 205 (21mm spacer) fitted and there is plenty of room to fit wider tires.

your car has ~3.5" of front space and ~6" of backspace, this allows a Fuchs 8ET23.3 from an older 944 to fit w/ a 225/50 tire. It's going to be tight but it is doable, unfortunately those wheels are only available in 16, so instead on a 225/50 a shorter 225/45 would be easier to fit

no, a spacer only reduces ET, you want ~ 8 ET23-25, 8ET10.6 already projects too far and a spacer further pushes it out. That's what a smaller ET does, push the wheel out further

Ok, all is clear now.

What do you think about the following setup:

Front: 7J ET23 with 205/55 R16 Pirelli Trofeo R
Rear: 7J ET23 with 225/50 R16 Pirelli Trofeo R

other than the tire height which will rob torque and be a bit more of a fitment issue that should work ok.

Did more research and seems that i could also find good tires with the following measurements:

Front: 205/50 16inch
Rear: 225/45 16inch

Those would be easier to fit, re the back, 7s will be ok but 8s are preferred, the 8ET23.3 from a 944 would be ok
