Default Rev counter is not working

Hi all. I've fitted a guard for the relays on the left hand side of the engine bay and now my rev counter is not working. Have I disturbed something? Any help appreciated.

What is a 'rev counter'? Do you mean the tachometer? And what kind of car?

Hi again. Its a 1987 930. Sorted though. It was just a broken connection on the left side of the engine bay.

Thanks anyways

Can you post a pic of that connector please? Mine is intermittent and it started after going over a bumpy road so I think it might be a connection. The upshift light and turn signal indicator lights in the tach work fine, but revs just drop to zero from time to time.

if the up shift light works then its your tach.....

but to be more specific .. if while driving the tach is sitting at zero but the up-shift light comes on to shift, then its your tach .. it means the signal is getting to the tach and telling you to shift but not signalling it with the needle.

seen this before.

Hi there. I have a dead tachometer on my 1990 C2. Is there a connector you found that made it work? Thanks!

The c2 gets the tach signal from the DME. If you have an oscilloscope or volt meter that reads frequency you can test at the tach harness to see if it's getting the signal. If so, its the tach, if not, its the DME or something else up stream. The likelihood is it's the tach. you could have it tested by Palo Alto speedometer or North Hollywood Speedometer. There maybe shops on the east coast that can do it, don't know.

Be aware this is NOT a C2 forum . we can help a little but there is a specific forum for 964 owners.
