Default AC evap fan quit - brief burnt electrical smell

Folks,
AC quit on me this am. AM drive started a little strange - when I first fired it up the AC fan didnt seem to be at full speed - after about a minute to increased and seems normal for a 40 min drive. When I restarted the car - fan was again at lower speed. Then quit - had a burnt electrical smell - so I switched it off. smell dissipated quickly (never saw smoke) drove home and parked. Now when I try to turn on the AC fan - nothing. So thinking switch/fan or a wiring short. Before I start trouble shooting - any BTDT?

update - should have also mentioned - doubt it's the switch as the condenser van still comes on with the switch.

these need a fuse on them...are they fused?? I know porsche amended the later G cars to add a 15a fuse on the condenser and footwell fans.

It's in the smugglers box, open that up. The plug is easy to get at. Removing the fan/motor is a bit of a pain. here's a thread with some pictures if you're DIY. Definitely get the motor... before it fries other stuff.

If it is fried Griffiths makes a great replacement (you need right version for the year obviously) :
