I am thinking about upgrading my 1981 911SC to 930 brakes. Is it worth it and are thier any special installation conciderations?

Good one kahuna!! Big reds look great but a DE class is much better spent money (and more fun to boot!) Pads seems to be the first way to go!

Since I wrote the page that Kahuna pointed you at, I am interested in feedback.

You can also read at tech.rennlist.com the 911SC FAQ that discusses the 930 brake upgrade that was made to an 81SC.

I did this upgrade recently and am thrilled with the results. I bought the kit from Steve W. at www.rennsportsystems.com and the whole experience was top notch!

Bill -- Feedback: Add some stuff on brake balance and proportioning; make section headers more prominent; section on rubber hoses vs. metal & importance of DOT metal hoses; venting & links to vent kits. And of course, my own little interest -- the very lightest brake congigurations incl. what I hear are some new ones (lighter hats).

The more you focus on this, the more it will take your mind off other events.

Best wishes to you. - Randy

For the front; The 964 calipers & adapter & pads that I just removed from my car come in at 8#s, the Colman rotors and hat are 13.2#. net 21.2#

The original A calipers & pads were 9.5#s and the rotor 8#s. net 17.5#s.

Thats a lot of brake for only 3.7 extra 3#s

Thanks for the feedback

I would start with a simple brake pad up grade. Try Porterfield Brake Pads. I have them in my 911 and my 914 and love them. Best wishes - Jay Gratton
