Don’t know about San Antonio but try Werks11 in Temple - he’s good. Opens at 9am.

This Horsche don’t like starting but goes strong when it does.
it wouldn’t start in Houston when we stopped to pick up points at Bap Geon auto store - the guys were awesome lending me tools and with the help of the mechanic on the phone we got it started - hilarious!
next up New Orleans. if there’s anyone there that loves tuning Porsche’s we’ll be there -all day tomorrow.
put it in reverse please...

I think its safe to say you are bonding with this car. You photo under the car reminds me of I time I needed to replace the starter in a parking lot. Only I had a stream of melting snow running under my back Safe travels and thanks for sharing your journey with us.

Cannonball pit crew question! The transmission looks like its leaking slowly - Is there any oil we can top it up with (synthetic or non synthetic) at a drive through place until we can get it to our mechanic in Richmond VA - everywhere that does Porsche is closed in New Orleans today and tomorrow. Many thanks - we are loving this car.

Any gear oil should work for this temp situation. Best to avoid synthetic to not mix but may not be a big deal. Hopefully it is not leaking between bell housing and motor as this would indicate an input shaft seal and that leak could wreak havoc on the clutch which will present more issues. Only fill to a fingertip below the fill hole. Don't overfill. Good luck!

Very cool journey, honestly the trip of a lifetime. Who is your mechanic in Richmond? Quite a few great indies here, as well as good people at the local dealership.

Robert @Lufteknic did the PPI on my 2010 C4S and runs a very special shop...great choice!!!
Curious whether you will be returning to Ireland or not? My wife and I spent a few weeks touring Ireland last year and hope to return sooner than later because it is as special a place as we've visited. I sure would love to transport the 997 there for some real touring and I suspect that we'll just use Touro next time to rent a P-car...
