New arrival from Sierra Madre today...a couple very expensive pieces of plywood. Bare door panels to be covered (still not entirely decided on material). Also, radio delete panel arrived.
Those wheels look great! What was the reason to powder coat over having them sprayed? Durability or aesthetics?
I trust the wheel refinishing shop's judgement and just go with whatever he recommends on each project. He's done tons of sets for me - sometimes paints, sometimes powder. I think in this case it was for durability - very happy with how it looks.
Ok, so my trigger-happy over excited sierra madre excursion resulted in me ordering the wrong door panels. RS set now on order (not the OEM ones I accidentally chose...oops). On a brighter note, installed my new BT controller and radio delete today.
Hate aftermarket head units (and really head units in general) so wanted a subtle way to still have music in the car. Answer: this thing from NVX.
Step 1, locate this hole thing on the dash
Step 2, drill hole
Step 3, insert & secure
Have to wiggle around the climate control wires behind the dash to make it fit but totally doable
Ignore old radio spaghetti under dash
Probably about a 30 minute job depending on how big your hands are and how much caffeine is in your system. Takes some patience and finesse to work it into place and get it bolted down but overall not too difficult. Automatically connects to your phone when you get in the car...control the volume, play/pause and skip tracks from the little ****. Also a hidden aux input in the glove box for passenger seat DJ.
Perfect solution for me, should work great for Sirius radio streaming on iPhone and really tidies up interior...does anyone use FM radio anymore anyway??? Next we will continue ripping out old audio wiring and tidying everything up. Carpets expected Monday but want the sound system sorted before install.
Whaletail off, ducktail loosely mounted for test fitting. Fitment is far from perfect but isn't awful either....will need some massaging before paint but overall love the look. Thinking satin or semi-gloss black to match the wheels. Have another car heading to the body shop soon so will try to slide this one in right after.
