Default 911SC Outlaw build

I usually hide over in the 964 forum but have always been an SC fan...scooped one up that a co worker was selling last weekend and now the build begins. Final product not entirely determined but will see where things take themselves. Here's where it all starts:

1980 911 SC Coupe...originally a Copper Brown car resprayed by its first owner in this factory Porsche gold colour (not sure name?). Apparently it's the colour that came on the Weissach edition SC. Originally I planned to repaint again but the gold is actually growing on me so we'll see. Numbers matching 3.0L engine and 915 both recently rebuilt and feel great. Here she sits...

Sitting on BBS wheels (now for sale if anyone wants em) but came with original 6 & 7 inch fuchs. Took for a good shakedown run as is then dropped off at the shop for a good cleaning and some 'before' photos.

Installed Prototipo before I even drove the thing but otherwise this is how I collected it. Good solid well looked after base...super potent engine, weird exhaust, tight w no squeaks/rattles, zero rust. Should be fun.

Already started tinkering while I wait for parts on order.

First order of business was ripping out centre console. Car already had A/C deleted when engine was rebuilt (although I still have compressor and everything....so eventually it could go back in)....so no need for the controls. New (black) RS carpet kit is on order - when it arrives and I have the old carpet out I'll have to figure out what to do with these wires, so I'm open to ideas. Also trying to decide if I should leave the shift boot or get rid of it. Shift **** must go....thinking 917 style woody.

Horse hair was starting to fall out on rear cushions so removed them....then decided to continue and rip out back seats completely. Will rip the rest out once carpet arrives.

On order now have: RS door panels, RS carpet kit, radio delete panel, new door sill guards & ducktail. Trying to figure out wheel/tire setup so trying on 100 diff combinations of Fuchs. Ruled out 15s and 17s...it'll have to be 16s. Front I think I've settled on 7" with 205/55 16 rubber....rear trying to decide between 8" with 225 or 9" with 225 or 245. Any input appreciated.....I know there's space for 9s but dont want to make it look too puffy.

Fuchs will be painted fully satin black once I decide, and planning to lower about 3/4 of an inch.

Reds are 8" front and 9" rear. White are 7 and 8. Silver are 15s (no bueno). Tried them all but hard to tell with ugly old tires currently mounted.

Ducktail arrived and trying to visualize. I think flat black will do the trick....need to take to body shop for correct fitting so will have to wait a while.

In the mean time looking at leather samples. All the light beige needs to go, but going to keep the dark brown dash and upper doors. Want to match leather pull straps to the brown....kind of a weird colour to match.

Also need to start exploring seat options. Could go for oem look with SC sport seats in black....or maybe something more bucket-ish. I like the recaro sportster CS but it might look too modern in this car. GTS classics seats are cool but $$$$. Any inspiration?

Looking forward to following your build.

My 82 started out completely stock and have been hotroding it for the past few years. It’s a fun adventure, enjoy.

It is a lot of fun planning your own vision. So far I like where your headed. I agree with your assessment on the paint.
I was able to sheath my wires, your showing, and hide them. I retained the A/C but deleted the heat that could
always be put back. Left the heat/defrost controls in place.

Good to know, thanks. I still have heat (and would like to keep it) but A/C likely won't be put back. Once all the carpet is out I'll play around with the wires a bit.

If you're referring to engine tuning, its already been sorted. Minor adjustments will be done at my local Porsche dealership. Actual build is being done at Retrowerks garage in London ON....Porsche shop not open to the public but takes on some cool builds as they choose.

Had some time to play with the car this evening so quick little update. Seats out, all carpet removed, door sill rubber and trim removed, thoroughly cleaned every surface. Shift boot removed and base polished with some steel wool. Head unit also removed - radio delete plate will cover the hole, but will likely hide the old A/C controls zip-tied away behind. Now going to clean up the mess of stereo wiring into a very simplified system. Still waiting on lots of parts....

Like the direction! Where did you source the RS doors and carpet?

RS doors from Sierra Madre (bought blank board, will have custom-covered to my own spec). Carpet from AppBiz. Both in transit.

I have a 1979SC. I decided to backdate it.

For your build, I would go with 7x15 front and 8x15 rear with Avon tires and finish the Fuchs in RSR finish.
I would also pull the rockers and install elephant oil lines.

GTS classic for a set of seats. Id do a tartan insert of some sorts to pick up the colors of the browns and golds...

I went with 1973RS door panels, but alas, im backdating.

H4 headlights are a must.

Wevo shifter. No boot.
