Default WTB: 1972 911T

Been looking for a nice example of a 1972 911T. Not looking for a mint example. I would prefer a car with fresh suspension components and engine/transmission done. But don't want a show car. I like patina. Gives character. I plan to maybe hot rod it a little eventually. Preferable colors are Silver, black, dark blue

They are a little hard to find. Don't give up. Hope you find one. I was lucky and found this 10 years ago in a garage on the Oregon coast. 100K later and this is what I ended up with. Love it.

Another vote for narrow bodied hot rod. Here’s some local ones, including mine in black. Mark did a great job on my mfi pump, and it’s an absolute hoot to drive!

Thanks Mark!

They are out there, but you will likely have to pry it out if the current owner's hands.. only took me about 5 years to find mine ossi blue '69t with 3.2 short stroke screamer. After searching for years, I found it locally through word of mouth.

^very nice!

OP - let's see some photos!

I was in the hunt for a while - in my experience, there are a lot of cars out there that are overpriced and need a lot of work - there are also a lot of cars that look nice, but are often masking issues. Over the years, time has proven to show the common issues with these cars. It is interesting how consistent the same issues rear their ugly heads - so the key is to know what to look for, and unfortunately, there are a lot of issues that aren't easily identified until you start tearing a car down (see my build thread for my adventures). I bought a car knowing would need work, but didn't appear to have significant issues - but was priced accordingly - which many sellers had cars needing a lot of work, but priced high. I was ok with buying a car that needed some work since I was building a hot rod anyway - so I wasn't as concerned with originality. Cars priced right go very quick - so have money in hand and ready to buy.

You guys are going to kill me. I started panicking when the first few posts were “don’t get wider flares!”

I found a good example that was perfect for what I was looking for. 72T Repainted from bare metal to original color, matching numbers, engine and trans rebuilt by a reptutable shop and some rare options from factory. Oh, and it has SC flares. 😬 Price was at a great starting point. Interior needs a little TLC, and some period correct purchases and it’s good to go.

I didn’t care about the flares but I also didn’t want a pristine car. I want to actually drive it and not care about values. You guys are awesome with the help!

The 1972 911T that im looking at also has SC flares. And im totally cool with that as i want a hot rod with a little bit of meat on the bones.

Congrats - still waiting for photos! Flares will give you room for more tire, which is good for performance.
