350Z trade in
I have a 2003 350Z track version with 3000 miles in "as new" condition. I am looking at a beautiful 1994 911 Carrera cab with 50000 miles. The P has had two owners, the last being a female professional sale rep. The car is at a MB/Porsche dealership locally. I have bought 7 P cars from these people and they are honest and stand behind their product.
They want my car and $5000.00 which translates to:
32,900 for the P
29000 for my trade.
Opinions appreciated ASAP as I will be at their shop on Thursday 1-22-04
Thanks
Larry
PS I will be keeping my M491

94 car - I'd consider a 993 for about the same price. The 993 has less maintenance to worry about, is lighter and a faster car.
If you decide on the 94', get a PPI done before the transaction.
Good luck to you!

Question: is the '94 cab a 964 or an early 993?
If it's a 964, it's considerably overpriced. If it's an early 993, it's in the ballpark, subject to a ppi. I have no idea what your Z-car is worth today, but you do mention "track version". If you're interested in tracking the porsche, look instead for a coupe.

If it's a true 1994 - then it's a 964 which would mean it's about 4,000 over unless it is in ungodly shape - then it's 2000 over... I really don't know about less maintenance - no hydraulic lifters on the 1995. What else?

Three Wheelin'
The 350Z Track is an option package that includes Brembo brakes, cloth seats and other performance goodies. It's the one to have. Seems a little painful to trade in a new car PLUS cash for one that's 10 years old, Porsche or not. I'm biased I suppose, I like the Zed cars...

I agree that the price for the 964 cab sounds high.
Thought I'd point out that 993s aren't lighter than 964s. The 993 coupe has a curb weight of 3064 lbs; a little heavier than the 3031 lbs of the 964 coupe.

Chuck said the 964 Coupe is lighter then the 993! That is true but this fellow is looking at a 964 Cab and that is a heavier car then the 993 Coupe I believe. I also think the 964 is a little high, I would look at a 993 if it was me. However, you are the one who needs to be happy. So if the this particular 964 will make you happy then go for it. Best wishes - Jay Gratton

why trade - I saw a new track model go for 32k w/9000miles the other day @ an AUCTION
Your Z car will pull that kind of money or more on the private market. Sell it privately.

From Pelican:

Made a spot in the garage
Last night I was looking at a local "Custom, Antique and Sport Car Trader" magazine and I ran across a 94 C2 Cab with 50,000 miles showing. About four months ago I bought a 2003 Nissan 350Z. I really liked the Z, but I wasn't in love with it. To make a long story short I now own the Cab. Except for a few paint chips the car is a strong 8, maybe 9. The PO was a female who was transferred to Pennsylvania and didn't trust the convertible top in the weather back there.
I won't bore you with my positive impression of the car-but I love it.
Now I've added insult to injury, in addition to financial ruin trying to keep the 85 and this one in top shape.
Thanks for listening

and here on rennlist!
94 C2 Cab in my garage!!!
I addition to my M491 bastard stepchild I just traded my 2003 350Z for the nicest cab (8+) I have ever driven. I am really jazzed!! Grey top over a dark blue metalic, grey interior, 50000 documented miles , clean PPI and a great carfax. Life is good. I'm so happy I even waved at a BMW today.
