Default General question 77/ 911CS

I recently have been talking to a friend about building a rally/safari style Porsche (Luftauto/kelly-moss style), and have been looking around casually for a couple months. Recently I was offered 1977 SC* 911 project car for about 5k :engine not working, rolling body, minimal rust, clean title, no accidents. So my question is based on what I had read about the problem with this year model (75-77 galvanized steel issues), would it be worth chasing a project car of this year/model or would you guys recommend finding a different year 1980-1986 ? Thanks for suggestions thoughts .

I have no idea what a 77 cs is

Depends what you get it for. Also will depend on what work you can do yourself

I meant super carrera SC*, I will post a vin number and pictures when I go look at the car on Friday. I am semi-capable when it comes to mechanical work but the body I would have a local shop do the work.

If its a 77 its a 2.7 which can be a problematic engine if not sorted $$
If its a 78 its an sc is a 3,0 litre and pretty bulletproof.
Check out the colour of the engine shroud
Green could be bad
Orange could be good

I say "could" as there are so many unknowns.

Car was in terrible shape and had no motor, but at least it was a fun adventure to check out the car.
