I have a friend of a friend who has a 1989 black 25th Anniversary coupe with approximately 45k miles on it. Car is in excellent condition, has service records/receipts, 17 inch turbo-twist wheels (original Fuchs in mint condition also included in sale), custom Kenwood/MB Quart audio system and keyless remote entry.
My question to the board is what is this automobile worth? I've read on other posts that although the number of black Anniversary coupes was small (60 produced), since there are no mechanical differences between a regular 89 Carrera and the Anniversary model there isn't much of a difference in value, but does someone on the board have a $$$ figure?
Thanks!

A couple of eBay sales (To establish the 'bottom feeder' price):
1989 Coupe 106,000 $15,801 Nov 2003 Silver Anniversary Silver Tail
1989 Coupe 194,300 $14,899 Dec 2003 Silver Anniversary Silver Tail
By the time they hit higher mileage, any 'specialness' appears to wane. $25K would be a reasonable price for a 45K car - especially an '89 which are at the top of the Carrera pricing.

$26K+ IMO. It depends on what the buyer is interested in obviously. As Jack said, cosmetics here - black seat piping, full carpet, color-matched Fuchs (if they were still on), and a turbo-look center console. The rarity of this model is what forces the price up...

I looked hard at the Silver Anniversary cars before I settled on a 95' 993. I made an offer on two -- I think the car you described would sell tomorrow for $24K, if your buddy can wait and doesn't mind fending off a buch of tire kickers, he can get $26K or possibly $27K for that car.

Yes, it's not quite black -- it's a metallic dark charcoal color. I believe he's correct that there were only 60 coupes in that color. If it's a true black it's probably not an Anniversary model.
There was a thread on these recently, so try doing a search. The value could be from mid to high twenties, more or less, depending on how clean it really is.

I agree with Jeff, its worth 26k or more, especially in that rare color. The non Fuch's actually lower the value, of course thats not the case if you're throwing in the original wheels.

Another point on the market:
While 911 special editions are sometimes just a vinyl stripe away from the 'non-special editions' not all of the automotive world reacts appropriately. I believe it was last year at Barrett Jackson that I saw a "Martini Edition" 930 go through the auction at stupid (high) valuation.
Not every car buyer is as informed as RennList regulars...
On the car in question, I agree with Jeff...

It is a cosmetic package - but a very nice & complete one at that (black piping on seats, full grey leather interior). Depends on what you value in a used 911, what your plans are - '89 IS the last year of "classic" 911 body production.
I know of one that recently changed hands, VERY low mileage in pristine shape, for around $30K. Like buying a "new" '89 & only 60 of this variant.
Happy Holidays!
