Seems like the top 10 oils listed here haven’t all been mentioned.

This article seems to suggest that ZDDP isn’t, by itself, isn’t a main factor in a high quality oil.
It looks possibly incredibly useful. I don't have the technical background to interpret, but from the parts I can understand I would impute he knows what he's talking about.

The writer seems way too defensive and way too opinionated, but he sure has collected a lot of data, and to be honest, I’m not surprised to see some of these oils at the top. I haven’t run into any single person that has said Amsoil isn’t a top oil (ranked in the top 5 out of over 100 oils), and while some folks don’t like Mobil 1, Porsche has chosen it for all their Cars and it also ranks in the top 10.

Don't know what gave you that impression. Every Porsche leaving the factory since about the 993 series (they used Shell?) has been filled with Mobil. So, figure about the past 20 years. Also if you watch any of the motorsports with factory cars and factory drivers, you see the Mobil endorsements and cross branding.

There was a guy on the 996tt forum a few months ago who said Mobil1 was shyte and the formulation had changed since the old days and Porsche was kind of not recommending it anymore. Not saying I concur, just recalling what was said.

Yeah, those same folks sometimes talk about how Porsche racers promptly drain the Mobil 1 and replace it with something else without really telling folks about it, despite the advertisement branding on the side of the car that clearly shows Mobil 1 sponsorship. I’m sure there is some truth to that, as some folks do think Mobil 1 is crap. Truth is, there probably is another oil that might give a slight advantage in some way, could be better in some ways, etc. For example, some racing oils are so thin and lite that they can reduce parasitic drag and save a couple of horsepower or gas mileage during a race, not to mention, keep temps lower. Those items alone could make or break a championship.

However, If you Google search through dozens and dozens of reviews, Mobil 1 is always up in the top ten, if not way at the very top.

It all really subjective. I have been reading thread after thread on this oil subjective. One thing that stands out to me is lpeople are very passionate about there choice in brand. I have seen this all my life. Years ago when I was running American muscle cars the same debates raged. From my experience tearing down engines that have ran the the major brands. Valvoline engines or faired the best. When I was building bow engines I ran valvoline as well. I built high performance vow engine and would tear them down after one to two years to evaluate there condition and they always were very healthy.

Default Oil

Take a look at amsoil Z ROD. 20-50. Higher phosphorus and Zinc. Higher than standard Mobil. Just a suggestion. I’m running it.
