Default Looking for the '77 911S I used to own... can you help?

Good day,all... I hope I'm posting this in the right forum(!)

I know that this is a long shot, but I'd really like to find the 1977 911S that I owned back in the late 70s and early 80s.

Here's what I can tell you:

1. VIN - 9117202263
2. Color: Sienna Metallic
3. Interior: Lobster leather
4. Fitted with Recaro seats ('LS" I think), black fabric with the orange 'spectrum' center sections.
5. Rear fold-down seats upholstered in matching Recaro fabric
6. CIS removed and Webers installed
7. Through-the-body front sway bar
8. Gotti wheels (gold centers)

I sold this car either in 1985 or 1986. I live in Texas (between Fort Worth and Dallas) and the sale was to another Texas resident.

If anyone has any information, or even a good 'lead,' I would really like to hear from you.

Thanks,

Passing this on to the HP editors. Maybe they'll be able to do a story on it. In the meantime, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

That's very kind of you. Thanks very much!

It was a very nice car! I was really active in Maverick Region PCA during my ownership of this car. The car was really competitive in its class in autocross events and on the 1.8-mile Oak Hill road track at Henderson, Texas (the car and I won the "Year's First Place Trophies" for both of those series in 1983 (autocross AND Oak Hill). I was pretty limited in my wrenching skills as well as bravery back then, so my friend Ed Mayo did all the work on the car (we both had a LOT more hair back then). If I were actually able to find the car today, it would probably either (1) be in a wrecking yard somewhere, (2) maintained and restored over the years and I couldn't afford it, or (3) a nice "driver" still in use and the current owner wouldn't think of selling.

But I would love to find it!

Rob

There is now a 911S registry - your car may have been documented there - http://www.early911sregistry.org/

Yep, pretty close, but, as you say, no ceegar! By the way, I think you have one too many numbers in your truncated VIN

Thanks for taking the time to read, and respond!

Thanks, Steve, for the suggestion, I hadn't thought of that. Even so, as I understand the 'Early 911S Registry,' their emphasis is on the early, long hood, 911S cars. All of the 77s wore the "S" designation, as nice as they were, they lacked that certain "specialness" of those glorious early 911S cars.

All of that aside, I'll probably post it over there, too... thanks for the good suggestion!

That's a register for longhoods! Those folks are the aristocracy of the Porsche world, they wouldn't want to be caught dead in a puny middie.

That's some nice detective work, 'pcarfan944'!

If, indeed, that is my ex-Porsche, someone did a boatload of work on it: paint, wheels, trim (chrome to black), right side mirror, seats, goodness-knows-what-else.

Frankly, I'm reluctant to believe that this is the same car... but, if it is, this is surely not the happy ending I was hoping for.

Even so, as puzzled as I am, I really appreciate your post.
