Hi Iceman/Ivan, the clevis pin was fine. I am going to remove the cable this afternoon. What cable do I buy? There are 3 to choose on PP site with porsche OEM at $198. The mid level is $60. Any experience with using one or the other?

Hi that is a good question ...i do not see any problem buying the less expensive clutch cable...the Porsche price is insane;-( it is just a cable for g... sake..not gold plated cable.
What i used to do even with new cable is..Stick it in a bucket with oil and move cable back and forwards in it -this way it will nicely lubricated inside, then install...

Ivan

I just looked at the Cofle cable nothing wrong with it either made in Italy...

great! Thanks again for all your help. I ordered the Cofle cable, the other was out of stock. I should have it in a couple days. I am pulling the cable tonight. I am thinking the sheath around the cable is shot.

I think I'd do a search - I'd be worried about the quality of a $23 clutch cable. Maybe go for the Gemo, priced in the middle? I did a quick search and found this:

Hi Mark,
I questioned that myself with pelican rep. The Gemo was out of stock. He said he used the Cofle one in his car and they are a supplier to porsche, made in Italy. 2 year 24k warranty.

Pedal Cluster Rebuild is needed periodically so why not do it now - often concealed rust underneath anyway

cables stretch before breaking so can be a guide

the items shown in the bell housing also have to be done eventually but you need to pull the trans

did you say you were in France? must be a supplier near you - hard to read with the forum "downdate"

Go to the grey bar at the bottom of the page and click on the box on the left. choose "Classic Next Gen" to get back some of the previous features. New 2.0 sucks donkey *****

I removed the clutch cable and attaching some photos. I assume it is stretched because it looks ok. I think it is original and the car has 92k on it.

I got the gemo cable from a different supplier
I have some bad news for you. If the cable looks fine. And the pedal cluster is fine. You likely have something busted inside the clutch if the cable was mounted properly. Cables don't instantly stretch that cause the pedal to drop to the floor
You still do not have a smoking gun.

on the good side, it is pretty easy to drop the power train on a 911...

go ahead and pull the pedal cluster to see how much rust is under it...

ok..the cable looks ok ...it is even newer model type.So back to the original suggestion..like r991 said.
Remove the pedal cluster .In order to do this you also have to remove the front protection plate under the fuel tank. There are 2 13mm nuts
Also when removing the bar to your brake booster remove the end which is at the booster .There is 17mm wrench bolt. The rest you already know about.
Here is the bolt on right

and also the clip -pin

Hi Ivan, there is zero rust near or around the pedal cluster, there was dust and dirt I have vacuumed up but that whole area look solid and clean.

When I bought my car it has 92k original miles, zero rust and always stored. inside. its been well taken care of. The pedal cluster looks good and functions correctly, the pin isn't the issue since the pedal operates the lever to the cable.

Hi R911, thanks for the response. Dropping the engine? I am not so sure about that.
Iceman, I was afraid of that answer. I kept thinking the cable was operating fine.
