Default Clutch sticking on 84 targa

Hi -
When driving my 84 targa yesterday, I noticed that when I release the clutch it stops with an inch or so left to go. As I drive or nudge it slightly with my toe, it clicks out or releases about another inch or so. Why is this? Seems to engage and disengage smoothly for shifting but wont fully release. Car hasn't been driven much in the past few years. Any ideas about what's happening and how to fix would be much appreciated. Thanks!

sounds like a binding issue for sure. There are several areas I could be

1. pedal bushings and springs.
2. Binding cable/ adjustment .
3. Seizing helper arm on to the cross shaft.

saying your pedal sticks is really not much info

I found it helpful to put my cell phone under the car recording while I played with the clutch up above and then looked at the recording so I could see what is going on.

I would say your cross shaft/ clutch helper spring needs servicing.

Thanks for the info Iceman. Good idea on the cell phone recording. I haven't seen it yet, but I can hear a squeeking and a creeking under there as I push in the clutch. Feels tight though. Anyways, looking forward to videoing it under there. Thanks again

There is also a little adjustable stop plate that can come loose and maybe jam the clutch arm? Just pull up the surrounding carpet and have a look.
