Default Why not keep the exhaust valve open

It dosnt matter whether your in sport mode or not the exhaust noise is utterly crap, sounds like a tracktor.

Why dosnt gt3 let you keep the valves open all the time, especially in sports mode?i guess someone must have found a way to prevent this from closing at low revs, but will this have any negative effect on warrantly or reliability issues?

love to get the sharky exhaust but i just bought the car and i want to ask the dealer if they will still honor the warranty.

without sharky exhaust can you still unplug it? and porsche must have kept it like this for reason, so there any negative affects for unpluging the exhaust?

I bought mine from the GM of the dealer. They also put in a Guard LSD and LWFW.

Champion porsche does not void warranty with a sharky (they put it on) I've run the car unplugged since I bought it. No problem.

guys, what is "unplugging" mean? I am guessing like other cars, there is a valve in the exhaust system that opens at a certain RPM? Is it different than just always having the sport button on? Is this a simple operation?

porsche has it like that because DOT/emissions requirements are retarded. Realistically the gt3 can run with cats and one muffler.

There is a weather seal plug, passenger side of motor that can be pulled - keeps the valve open. someone here may be able to provide a pic.

sport button still effects computer...... so it is still worth using even with bi-pass.

dont talk to dealer about it.
find a favorite porsche tuner/german car shop and get them to perform your oil changes etc..... get them to install bi-pass.
If you ever have a major possible warranty issue then first remove the bi-pass at the tuner shop and then go to the dealer.....

Just wait it out.... the valves always end up spoiling on their own...and once that happens you will have them perpetually open. Yes there is more resonance with the valves open at low revs but still not excessive. Or as others have said, just pull the tube on the valve and it will be permanently open....

I run the Sharkwerks bypass with the valves permanently unplugged. No codes, and you get the intoxicating sound all the time. Zero resonance whatsoever. And the burbling on overruns--what music!!

there have been a lot of threads on this already with pictures, but basically it's a FREE fix. you unplug the clip and they rock and roll in open mode permanently.

emissions/noise regulations prohibit a lot of engine/exhaust fun from the factory.
