Default GT4RS Intake for non-RS 4.0

Any one on here considered/fitted one of these intakes to the 4.0 Cayman?

I'm glad that someone developed this product, but I'm disappointed that it provides no additional HP for your $10K+ investment. Sure looks cool, however!

I recall hearing that they were working on a slightly quieter version (thicker material perhaps)... does anyone know how goes the development on that?

A couple of threads on this. I think intakes are often the hardest aftermarket products to make big power out of on N/A engines, no? I think this is more for the look and experience than power.

The original SRO intake was just meant to reduce air temps by raising the inlets such that you weren't getting all the hot air from the front rads & brakes going into the engine. It would help maintain performance over longer periods of time (think endurance racing), but it's not really going to increase baseline performance. In all honestly, it's a cosmetic thing / something you can flex at a cars & coffee.

Sure, I'd expect the only reason would be for intake sound, but as to how much induction sound is increased or sweet to the ear, who knows. Maybe not 10k worth ?

Got a ride in a 4RS for the first time last week. Sounded way better on the inside than my 4.0 gts with full Kline system. Wonder if these sound the same. I think the car would be too loud with the intake and exhaust/oap/headers.

From the video I saw, they don’t sound the same (not even close).

I’m sure those BMCs will claim a couple extra.

I think that from my reading, they only dyno tested on the 981 gt4, the 982 seems to be more responsive to power gains, so there may be a few hp there to squeeze out

The video is interesting but "cold air intake" info about the 54 minute mark.

To save anyone else the time: “Every porsche was designed perfectly from the factory, nothing you could do would be an improvement”

In this case, that would mean that the Porsche gt4 clubsport intake design and the Porsche GT4RS intake design could not be an improvement
