I wouldn’t think so — too few cars, they’d hardly utilize their stock. I doubt it’d even be viable in a drum, but I could be wrong.

I was able to purchase the old C40 Oil at around $6-7/quart, during various sale events at Autozone. Currently, the new GT oil is not available.

I emailed Autozone at customer.service@autozone.com "I'm looking for a new product from Mobile One. The part number for the Mobil 1 C40 GT 0W-40 1 quart bottle is 127920. Will you be offering this? Thank you."

Received a response: "We currently do not have that oil setup but I’m reaching out to ExxonMobil so we can. My initial guess is that we are about 8-12 weeks out from being able to offer it."

I see the new red bottle shown on Suncoast, but I haven't bought it yet to verify.

Yea - $15+ shipping is a real punch in the stomach. I was going to do order one bottle but figured the priest would throw me out of confession on Sunday for doing so.

Feel free to email AutoZone address above, asking them to add the product. The more requests the better.

I have a feeling Mobil1 has an exclusive deal with Porsche, and this won’t be available from others for a while.

That's not correct.

From Mobil:
I don't have a specific list retailers that will have it. but you can go to most of them (O'Reilly's, NAPA, AutoZone, Walmart) and ask them to order it for you using part number 127290. If I can help with any other motor oil questions, please respond to this email or call me at 1-800-ASK-MOBIL (800-275-6624). Thank you for choosing Mobil, Cary

I take you and this fellow at your words while also noting that often these low-level folks do not have access to the most accurate information. It took a long time for C40 to become available after it was specified by Porsche; and I visited two local Porsche dealers who have the C40 oil on order but have not been given a timetable on when it arrives. Somehow Suncoast has it (I called to verify stock.), and kudos to them. It’s true that I did conjecture about a deal between Porsche and Mobil1; what is not conjecture is this stuff will be difficult to obtain for a while at least.

Which brings me to the C40 x4 topic. Nobody at any Porsche dealer I visited knows about it or has any information on it. A parts guy at large Porsche dealer told me (in person) he has many pallets of the C40 x3 oil, and he doesn’t expect to stick those up his rear end because the x4 has been specified.

Default Confused

OK, now I'm confused.
I did not get a letter from Porsche about a change in oil specification.
Is this oil approved or not? I bought it before 02/01/2024, but I can't understand why that would make a difference.

That is C40 oil. I own the same oil and it’s in my garage.

If you bought it beforehand, Porsche says it’s okay.

There has been lots of back-and-forth on “What is okay” both in this thread and throughout the other GT engine oil threads. Have a read through all the opinions and come up with your own judgement. If it were me, I would top off if needed with the old oil; but I would use the new oil for oil changes.

Attached is the document supplement from Porsche.

That is not approved, because your car required a C40 and 0W40 (now C40 GT 0W40). At least I assume that’s the case for a 2023 4RS (is the case for my 2022 GT3 with same engine)…

@GrantG I guess they modified the guidance for 2023, allowing 5w-40 for temperatures above -13F.
This is from my manual.

Interesting, since I am not aware of a similar change for GT3. Maybe I missed it or maybe it’s simply a way to increase fuel economy in the GT3…
