Two times different guys followed me, thinking it was a 918 Spyder lol

A lot of people were asking what version it was; the bumps make the car so different from a regular Boxster. It is worth having a manual top and will be worth it in the RS too, having a plus with the option of the bikini top.

This is an enthusiast car, good weather no roof incredible ride with lovely handling, an NA engine, etc This is your 2nd, 3rd, or 4th car (like me), not your daily one. This is like when you have this special candy/food/wine/whatever that you wait to enjoy it some days and it never disappoints you..

I agree with what you say and will add that for me, I try and enjoy it at every opportunity (excuse)!

I sure hope the dealer gives us all a comp'd indoor cover for the car since it will be the 4th car in the garage to take out on sunny days.

Porsches have never been art. It’s one of the reasons I like them. Drive the damn thing, weather be damned (within reason), else leave the car for someone who will.

I wouldn't see "being art" and "driving the damn thing" as a dicotomy ...to me is the contrary.
You leave the damn thing in the garage, that's definitely NOT artistic.

Anyway I cannot agree more, on driving the damn thing

Agree on driving them, disagree that they’re not art. Porsche cares a lot about how they look, and zillions of people love how they look.

I wasn't referring to you so I don't understand why you're offending me but okay, it's sad from a fellow Italian but maybe we'll meet in person with our supercars and we'll address the issue. I don't care if you believe me, this is internet and what I know from first-hand experience is true whether you believe it or not. Ciao, alla prossima!

Ciao, as I stated before, I don't want to create any problems to anyone so no, I don't intend to provide more details. I don't feel the need to prove my point, these are facts I know out of first-hand experience, so I'm fine with it. Ciao, maybe we'll get to know each other in person sooner or later and we'll be able to chat about this for sure! Cheers!

Well, in this case, I was using “art” to mean something that is to be put in a museum (aka a garage) and appreciated, preserving it for posterity (aka resale). Looks are entirely subjective, and I wouldn’t presume to say definitively what is attractive and what is not. I am certainly not saying “drive Porsches because they are ugly”! lol That being said, I am not a huge fan of Porsche’s typical aesthetic, however, with the spyder being a monumental exception: bellissimo! People don’t mention Porsche in the same breathless way they do Ferrari and Aston for a reason. Porsche’s beauty has been their driving dynamics / experience, at least for me.

My main point is it will be sad if these cars are only the 3rd/4th/5th option, for perfect days only. But that’s just me. A poor man’s version of the Ferrari monza isn’t of much relevance, IMO.

YMMV

The subjective part is very true, and it's interesting how tastes vary.

I find Ferrari looks to be a bit over the top, but I like them. I like the way McLarens look because they look futuristic, ahead of their time, to me. Lambos look even more over the top to me than Ferraris, but I wouldn't rule out getting one at some point.

The thing I like about Porsche aesthetics is that there's an elegant 'form follows function' quality to them.

For me the Spyder is not a daily car (regular or RS) but yes you can drive it in all weather. However the experience with roof is not the same at all 👍🏻

My current Spyder is my only car, I bought it to drive, and that means groceries, errands and road trips, IMHO it is meant to be enjoyed at every opportunity!

NOT saved for the next guy!

X2, my 987 Spyder is my DD. I have other cars but purchased the Spyder specifically as my DD, commute, errands etc.

Deliberately found one in excellent condition to drive the wheels off of 😎

NOT saved for the next guy!

All of these types of cars are art. They literally start out as drawings and molded clay!

I did bring a dishwasher home in a 944 once. Might be trickier in a Spyder.
