Leave the roof in the garage... This car is not made to drive with a roof.
I hope its a deal breaker for a lot of buyers so that my chances of getting a build are greater.... Haha
It's a weird dichotomy to me. I could 100% not give a **** about the roof, but then you put an auto in. So is it "automotive purist"/"back road carver" or not? Weird to me. Still brilliant.
ok. Please help me understand…. Are you saying there are two cloth tops?
There aren't two tops. There are two pieces to the top that together make a complete top similar to the current Spyder. All the videos are only showing the top section. I know in at least one of the videos you could see the other part left behind when they took out the top piece. The second piece they haven't been showing wraps around the back under the top piece to completely close off the interior.
Yeah... The roof is two separate pieces and allows you to run the car three ways:
Roof stored or Completely Removed from the Car:
Sun Shade Only- It's the primary top which in isolation allows sun protection with maximum airflow and intake acoustics. Can be used with light rain as well.
Sunshade with Weather Protector - It's an additional piece that is fitted under the Sunshade behind the Roll Bars. Only works with the Sunshade and provides maximum protection from inclement weather.
Most will complain about the "tent" roof, but the true diehards know it's one of the best features of the 987.2 and now the 982 Spyder RS.
My daily is a Wrangler and my wife is already on board with handling her side when dealing with the roof, so this all works just fine for me. Not that anyone would let me buy one...
If I didn't already have a Spyder, I might have gone for the RS, if we weren't still in a world of pricing insanity. I have a trio of vehicles: a Spyder, a Macan GTS, and an Audi RS5 that were all fully built to spec and all purchased at MSRP or below. I will stay with what I have for some time I think.

From one purist to another - who the heck would drive this car in the hills and canyon in auto? Track day, sure. But locally it's paddle shifts in manual mode all the way. If you haven't tried it you'll laugh like a school at the high-rev blazingly fast shifts. It's a BLAST.
Long time manual driver...

P.s. Trust me, it'll be a automotive purist/back road carver. 100%.
