OIL change prior to 10k?

I think I've had 3 oil changes in the first 10k? Every time the car hit a shop lift and the rear diffuser got dropped for alignment or suspension work - it's a marginal cost to change the oil at that point.

Based on oil consumption rates, you won't make it 10k between oil intervals without adding maybe ~20% (2 quarts) of the overall oil volume back to the engine anyway.

Everyone not doing a used oil analysis (UOA) and just changing on their feels is guessing in my opinion. Once I get out of the opportunistic oil changes I'll just start sending in UOA's and see what interval makes sense. With past engines in lower performance cars (but still tracked a lot), 6000 miles on 4 quarts of oil resulted in clean UOA's (from 120,000 miles lived with the engine, ~40k of which were on the track). I didn't see any loss of power based on telemetry (weight and acceleration maths) but I wasn't correcting for air temperature and wind speeds either. That said, I don't know a spec series that doesn't do rebuilds if they want to have competitive engines.

conclusion? INCONCLUSIVE!

Thanks - you guys convinced me to do it now that I am at 4k. Where (U.S) do you guys buy your parts and oil from as I intend to buy those myself and hand it to the indy shop to do the work.
