TheSmokingTire Comparison: Porsche Cayman GTS vs Chevy Corvette Z51

No, it's really not a game changer. EVO X's had that 15 years ago and you could tell it worked quite well, and it didn't make their drivers any harder to pass in the corners or make the cars fun to drive.
I prefer to do my own work with driving a car also; the fun is in doing something hard well. If you just want to corner fast without any skill required go ride a rollercoaster IMO.

I agree on the enjoying doing something hard well. I never understood the folks that take all the pleasure in winning the game by making it as easy as possible. Different strokes, I guess.

The C8 is an awesome car. Factor in price and its world class. The mag ride is incredible. It sounds great, and is fast. But that *** is horrendous. And the front not much better. And the resale might hurt.

As an example, the previous generation of Spyder still looks good in my opinion...all these years later.

In Porsche world, the roofline of the 1st gen Panorama stands out as a blunder. It still looks as bad today as it did when it debuted.
The C8 Corvette is dramatic enough to withstand its ugliness, but it's never going to be considered beautiful.

One of the things that bothers me is not fitting my clubs in the car. I know we can kinda fit one, as shown above. But to me, it's still annoying. I barely drive the car as-is, and having to throw my clubs in my DD makes me drive the cayman even less, which is a sad reality.

Golf club capacity isn't something I remotely consider in a sports car, but to each his own. However, even if the Vette didn't look like something a 9 year old Transformers fan designed, the fact that it cannot be had with a proper manual transmission rules it out for me.

I agree the C8 looks awkward, even though the performance is undeniable for the cost. My brother-in-law has a C8 2LT and I thought the seats were rock hard, so I was curious about Zach's comments about the C8 seats being comfortable. Those seats in leather would be a deal breaker for me. Maybe I am spoiled with the soft, alcantara 18 way seats in my Cayman.
BTW, I have a small carry golf bag (which still has individual compartments for each club) and it fits (tightly and with towels protecting stainless engine cover trim) in my hatch without removing any clubs. I drive the CGTS to the golf course regularly and still have plenty of rooms for golf shoes, towels and drink cooler. That is what makes this car a perfect daily driver. It is comfortable on the highway to the course with my Burmester blaring and then I roar through the backroad twisties on the way home and then stop at the grocery and still have plenty of room for groceries along with my clubs.

Gotta go shop for a new bag. If Porsche makes one that fit in the truck, I think they will sell a few LOL

Another data point. For guys wondering where the money goes. I know Porsche isn’t perfect but you do also need to factor in the dealer experience. Is it worth the premium? Depends on the guy I guess. Fwiw this dude’s content is pretty fun but he can also be a bit dramatic. Nevertheless the carbon wheels on this Z06 got buggered up because allegedly the dealers didn’t know how to deal with the wheels.
I’m sure he’s not the only one either. Because big bertha Z06 eats a set of tires tires every day for breakfast.

I found the content of interest actually.
Just goes to show you just because a manufacture produces some Totally Awesome, Super-Bad-*** machine.
Doesn't mean that their Dealer Network is in place to Service those machines.
I totally agree you can bet an Authorized Porsche Dealership's service department can change tires on a GT3 without DAMAGING the wheels.
In-Fact, I have had my Porsche Dealer's service department change my GT4 tires multiple times and there was definitely No-Damage !!!
Chevrolet Dealerships are NOT Porsche dealerships by any "Stretch-of-the-Imagination".
How do I know ????????????????
I worked for a Chevrolet Dealership in multiple positions for like 16-years.
There is No-Way in HELL that Chevrolet Dealership is like the local Porsche Dealership and never will be.

I found a 33" golf bag that will barely fit sideway in the trunk but you basically have to force it in there so I passed........ I found another example so I am going to try this again...(skip to 43 seconds)
