Do that many people who buy sports cars really use them to go golfing? And is it really a deal breaker? Like you're buying a sports car, if you want to go golfing and the sports car doesn't fit your golfing gear, just drive your other car you 100% definitely have because the type of person that would go golfing enough to care probably doesn't live and breath racing or anything like that, and probably doesn't live in downtown with one parkign stall, so you most definitely aren't daily driving a sports car as your only vehicle and have multiple vehicles.
It's a stupid requirement IMO.

I say it's a nice to have requirement and I do wish the Cayman can carry at least one golf bag (not in the front seat) but that didn't stop me from buying it. I have been taking my other car to golf but it would add to the fun factor if I can take the Cayman.

Btw, I used to carry a golf bag in the front seat of my 997 but I haven't done that with the Cayman yet, it's still new LOL
I went from a 2014 Cayman S manual to a 2015 C7 manual. I was immediately disappointed and 2 months later I was back in a 2016 Cayman S.
The C7 was very fast, looked good, sounded great and rode really well. But I never enjoyed it nearly as much as my 2014 Cayman S.
It just didn't put a smile on my face the way the cayman did, and it's hard to quantify or articulate, but if I had to put it in a word I would say sloppy compared to precise.
I suspect that for some of us, the C8 would still feel that way compared to a 718, but to be fair I haven't driven one.
Did you have a Z51? I test drove a C7 Grand Sport and was very impressed by it. Seemed like it had huge headroom and the torque even on that base engine was great. I briefly drove a C8 (not sure what trim) and it felt like a spaceship by comparison to the C7 GS (which felt racy). And I use the term spaceship both as a compliment and an insult.
Not sure where this particular "depressing" take is coming from, but why does something always have to "win"?
Maybe, just maybe, they're both good choices for different types of people?
I'm not really sure there's too many people who are agonizing over the decision between a base C8 and a GTS 4.0. It should probably be pretty clear to the individual which one they prefer...
I forgot where I saw this but you apparently CAN fit a set of golf clubs in the 718 trunk. You have to take the clubs out of the bag and lay them across the back of the trunk utilizing the cavern space that folds under the body. Then put the empty bag on top.
I’ll test when my BGTS comes in, but it may be possible!!!

You can very easily carry a golf bag in the rear hatch. I just throw down a towel on the rear hatch to prevent scratches and then another one over the top to protect the hatch. It's easy to carry them, but you do have to remove the driver and some of the longer woods. Not all bags will fit, but mine is a larger ORG 14 bag, so there are smaller ones out there.

take that vette!
I just posted above, for me, you only have to remove the 1, 3, and 5 wood. You won't fit anything in the back of the boxster as the trunk is too small, and not wide enough to fit most irons.

nope, base, but it wasn't capability of the C7 that was the issue,
it's superior objective performance is not in question as the numbers would indicate
for me it lacked a precision and integration that the porsche had

I am going to guess his objection is that golf club carrying capacity is the primary discussion point with respect to which sports car is better. He's not wrong.

I found the proof! I guess if you have fairly tall drivers, you may struggle, but its possible in the 982 boxster!
Another strategy is to get your buddy with an SUV to pick you up on the way to the course, and after he loads your clubs, you say, "You know what, I'll meet you there in the Porsche."
This is the configuration that I started with and now I'm using a towel over the whole bag itself to minimize any scratches on the hatch, works everytime in the 4.0. My old 987 would actually fit better without having to remove any clubs....but this is a bit larger engine. I can't say how well it would work with 2 golf bags, but most of the time it is just me. Perfect for blowing out of work on a Friday afternoon! Cool to see that it would work in the boxster, I wasn't sure how wide the opening was.

In that sense then yes, I agree. It is depressing.
