Hi, new member here and considering buying a new GT4 that has options that brings the car up to $158k. Some of the major cost drivers include ceramic brakes, paint to sample, deviated stitching, 18-way seats, LED PDLS+, and a bunch of small leather coverings. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a GT4 with a MSRP that high. Would this be dumb to move forward and buy this? Will the resale value be way lower because of such a high MSRP spec? I don’t plan to sell this anytime soon, but I want to be aware if I’m going to take a big hit later. Dealer is selling at MSRP
Thank you all for your feedback and perspective, I really appreciate it. I put down my deposit, I'm going to go for it . I love it and when I visualize what car would I rather have in my garage, this is what I see.
There isn't a listing for this otherwise I would share it.
@Dr.Bill@GT325 - You got it, this is the same one. I couldn't remember the color name, but I do believe it is Manaus Blue. Maybe I'll see you around town.

That's pretty high but get what you want. You won't get the $8000 PCCBs or the PDLS+ either right now so that'll bring things down. I selected most options with the exception of NAV and LWB's but got PCCB and PDLS+ and was only at $131.9K. Post your build code so we can see what you've selected.
I didn't build this car, this has already been delivered to the dealer with the current build spec below including PCCB and PDLS+. Just wanted some thoughts on if this is a bad idea and if I'm going to take a big hit on resale value for some of these non-performance items like personalized floor mats, leather door trim, manual in leather pouch, etc ... I like the car and the PTS makes it look pretty amazing, but not sure I want to move forward if I take a huge depreciation hit.

sounds like this might actually be a dealership spec and one thats been sitting on their showroom floor. I'd be willing to bet they were trying to sell it with an ADM as well but with an MSRP that high noone is going to pay 170k+ for a car (assuming 20k ADM).
That being said OP. Its a very high cost build. And in some cases this can actually hurt potential resale. There is a market for it for sure, but i think right now most people seem to be willing to pay around 120-130k for a GT4 with relevant options used. Since this is super bloated with a bunch of stuff, a lot of people wont put much value to things like, leather covered fuse box or steering column. Things like PCCBs and PDLS+ however will essentially "hold their value" as those are high desirable options, but expect to "lose" money on things like PTS, a bunch of little leather things, and maybe the 18-ways. I have heard that most people prefer the 2-ways if not the Buckets.
All of our cars are going to depreciate. But historically, yes, a very highly optioned Porsche sports car will lose more resale value compared to an average or a very lightly optioned example would.
If that car is the package you want, just get it. There probably won't be too many more opportunities to acquire a new GT4.
Usually PTS cars tend to hold their values better, but there are way too many options on this car. If dealership is selling you this cat at MSRP then it's not a terrible deal in my opinion. If they're going to slap on additional ADM to the bloated build then I'd walk away. Do you love the color and the interior deviated stitching?
Thanks for all the replies! The car is blue, just don't remember the exact name but i'll post pictures if I go for it. I do love the color and don't mind paying for PTS because it makes it more unique. I plan on tracking the car a few days a year and I'm a little worried about the PCCB, but I don't think i'll be tracking it enough to go through the pads and rotors very quickly. What are your thoughts on PCCB? I know it is very expensive to replace rotors, but are pads costly as well? This is not a daily driver, but I'm looking up all the fun roads close to me . Dealer is selling this at MSRP with no ADM. It sounds like everyone agrees this is a bloated build, but not horrible and to expect a little higher depreciation, but nothing too crazy.
Some things to consider to help answer your question since really the only person that can decide is you.
1. Since no ADM, that's a win right there because all of the people I've seen reporting on this forum that they got a build allocation in recent months have all reported ADM. With the car being on the lot, you also win because you don't have to wait for it.
2. Most cars that are purchased will depreciate. The GT4/Spyder should depreciate as these are not numbered cars and not the ultimate collector's variant of the line such as the GT4 RS which will not depreciate.
3. The depreciation should be less then a regular Cayman/Boxster variant and hopefully over time, it'll creep back up in value slowly.
4. As for color, PTS color can be a hit or miss. If and when you do plan to sell, the color may immediately turn some people off but at the same time, it may immediately draw someone to the car because they may love the unique PTS color and therefore may be willing to pay more for it.
5. With the interior color being silver, I don't see a clash of colors or a weird build so really it's just a matter of do you love the blue color?
6. The car is built with the PDK and 18 ways. Not necessarily the "desired" performance build for resale as LWBS and especially the 6MT, will bring in more money on the resale but again, if you find the right person, they may be willing to pay more for your specific build because they may want these options.
7. PCCB is not the "desired" option for track days due to replacement costs.
8. Personally, I think this is a good buy especially since there is no ADM and you'll get the car right now vs waiting. If and when you go to sell, you may take a little hit but it will be so worth driving the GT4. It's so fun.
9. If you don't buy it, please share with the group what color blue it is because I'm sure someone else will want to buy it.
