I was told yesterday that Yokohama stopped making the rear sizes in the AD09 and was offered A052's at a good price, I told them to check their facts because Yokohama only just STARTED making them in those sizes and next thing I knew they got them delivered as per the original order.

Even if the AD09 are slower, they were $400AU cheaper for a set than the Cup 2 N1's so even in the worst case they are still good value.

Yep, exactly. The launch date for the rear sizes was June 1st. They are just delayed here in the US. Maybe I should have waited a couple extra weeks, but I am tired of not driving my car and the Dunlops were in stock.

I'll report my finding as well on the Dunlops. I HATED the Cup 2's that my car came with, LOVED the SC3's, so this will be the 3rd tire I am trying on my car now.

I can't see the Sport Maxx Race 2 with an N2 spec anywhere, but the Race 2 was delivered on my GT4, really liked it but got about 4 days out of the fronts before I ripped it to the chord in chunks. I didn't have camber plates instead I had the max Camber you could get from the factory. I'll now put the plates in. It seems likely that they'd be faster than the Sport Cup 2s as they're an 80TW tyre vs the 200 TW for the Sport Cup 2s.

They are a bit faster....but you can't compare tw between brands. The tw between these 2 is very similar.

Tire Rack lists them, the fronts are backordered, but the N1 fronts are still in stock https://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec....e+2&isSEO=true

They say they are back ordered , but the website isn't accurate. My order processed yesterday with it showing the same status.

Just got the Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 N2 spec tires installed. Initial impressions are good.

I am running them 2 PSI higher (30 PSI COLD) rather than the SC3's (28 PSI COLD) because the sidewalls aren't quite as stiff, but initial impressions is that the lateral support seems to be there and the ride quality is definitely better. However since I was basically on the carcass on the old tires I am not sure how much of the ride quality increase is from a slightly softer sidewall or just having full tread depth tires again which does provide a cushioning effect. Probably a combo of both.

I can't test out ultimate grip yet, as I need a few hundred miles on them to get all the mold release off and for them to conform to my alignment settings. Also unknown yet is their temp. range and heat cycling longevity (The SC3's excelled on both fronts).

I think I will still end up back on the SC3's if they become available next time around as they are just priced way better. These Dunlops are expensive tires, but better than the Cup 2's by a good margin and will work until the SC3's are avail. again

In my personal experience, I’d say that’s the max, and a little lower might be better. I just finished my third track weekend on the same set at Road ATL, where temps were in the 80s. I started them at 25 cold and they consistently wound up at 33 or a little lower. I changed my braking habits and cut a big chunk off my best time, but I think it’s at least safe to say that the tires weren’t slowing me down.

how do you find lap times compare to cup 2’s with the stiffer sidewall? How much do temps get up from your cold tyre temps?

No track, just street observations.

On the SC3's starting at 28 COLD, normal driving would yield about 32 PSI F & 33 PSI R, if I am pushing it on curvy roads, add 1-2 PSI to those numbers.

So, with the Dunlops, all of those temps will be ~2 PSI higher.

Obviously if you are on track the PSI would climb even higher and you would probably bleed, but for street driving it works just fine.

In regards to sidewall stiffness, no matter the PSI I had the Cup 2's at, it always felt like you had rubber bushings in the rear of the car as the rear would move around a little laterally when pushing in the corners, the sidewalls just flexed too much. No issue with that AT ALL on the SC3's and I would so far call the Dunlops balanced with no just enough sidewall support to not make it feel like you are on rubber bushings.

SC3R in 305/30-19 are now in backorder....anyone has info from TR when they expect more?
My original plan to use Hankooks F200 just got a lot more expensive....about $175 per tire! Big jump in price getting them on par with most slicks out there.
So after this set is gone will like to try the SC3Rs and just drive them to the track.

The Goodyear 3Rs disappeared in less than a month from TR site. Who knows when they will get more.

This is a very useful thread and I wanted to share another data point. I used the factory provided Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 for 4 HDPE events with -2.1F and -1.5R camber. Running them at 30F and 32R hot and I had to pay more attention to the stock brakes faster then to the tires after 20+ minutes. The outsides on the rears are wearing out a bit faster due to the low negative camber but otherwise I like the tires and they might take 4 more events.
Next I'll downside to Apex 19" and at the moment the top of the list tire would be 255/35/19 with 285/35/19 RE71RS but I have yet to see if they have 295/35/19 which I think would be better. And more rear camber!
