I've tried a lot of tires, currently on Continental Extreme Contact Force, which I hated at first but after some heat cycles has really grown on me. Maybe it's the cooler weather but I've done my PB with them at my local track (with 200tw tires), only a second off the pace of (very heat cycled) pirelli DH scrubs. Faster than SC3, RT-660 or Cup2 somehow.
Did get a set of RE-71RS mounted, that I'll try out at COTA next weekend.

@Chonson the car really needs wider tires in front. I'd say go 255/295 or 255/305. Look at Apex wheels, I have a set of the VS-5RS that I love.

I am going to try my RT660 as soon as the season starts but I came from the Conti ECF and I was very impressed. Ran some of my best times with those tires and they allowed for a lot of playful rotation at the limit. Really loved them.

245/40 19 and 285/35 19 biggest they have right now. Going to run these on the 1Lap this year as they seem to be the best dry/wet 200tw combo over the PS4S.

@Chonson camber plates will gain you a lot of clearance for wider tires up front, and I expect you'll need them for 255 and esp for 265 with non-rolled fenders.

I'll have a set of 265s for the front with me, if you want to see if you'd like that set up better with your 285s.

The issue you run into is caster. As you increase negative camber it pushes the wheels towards the front of the car and the tires would actually rub on the front of the wheel well liner. No issues with actually rubbing the fender. Camber plates fixed it for me, but you could do caster pucks or the like instead. I could run 255 on a 8.5" wheel with no rubbing, but I wanted to run a 265 on a 9" wheel and it would just barely rub starting about -2.5 camber.

Negative camber solely by shimming also pushes the wheels out some. I ended up doing the plates and pucks and track alignment simultaneously and didn't get specific measurements of the plates, so can't speak to which did what and what is the limiter, but my understanding is the plates help both with caster and move the top of the struts inboard some so you can get away with less shims per degree negative camber. Drawback is less front track width. If I'm reading your post correctly, you can use just the pucks to get 265s to not rub with -2.5? (That said, mine is -3.0 up front so I might be back into a rub situation on 265s with only pucks).

No camber plates yet so I doubt 265 fronts will work. Are you coming Friday test day??

Yes, I just didn't have any issue with rubbing at the outside with the fender, just barely rubbing the front of the wheel well liner. Caster pucks were able to stop that. Camber plates stopped it also.

Sorry, meant to say 255, so those should fit. Ugh. Signing up now.

Saaaay whaaaa? The continentals are faster than the RT660?! Very interested as well as how the RE-71RS do too. I'll be out at COTA next Sunday, are you driving or instructing?

AR1s are fantastic! ive gone through a few sets 265/305 19s and theyre the closest thing to the og bridgestone re71. only downside to the ar1 is the road noise, but who cares.

I tried out a set of rt660s in the same size, and i dont like them at all. they feel very mush. i will say that i have only 1 event on them so my opinion may change. I will try running them with slightly higher psi at my next event.

Best bang for buck is SC3's in Canada for 20s so I'll be running those. Still no rears available though for most stuff so we'll see what actually is available in spring...

I'll have to give the AR1s a try. Rt660 definitely like more pressure. I've had good luck between 35 and 40 psi hot. I know that's a wide range, just depends on track and weather conditions. Any lower then 35 and they get mushy like you said and they can chunk in cold weather with lower pressures.
