Started day around 31. They quickly shot up to 37, but I made sure to start out slowly. Luckily I did not see any of the tearing observed in the pictures.

Normally I would have started day at 27 or lower because they would heat up a lot during first session. Glad I followed advice.

I meant that for the Cup2R as well. I myself have not used them but supposedly they last one weekend, maybe another day or so. In general not a fan of the Cup2 variant of tires.

The Yoko 052 is a fantastic super sticky autocrosss tire, good for 3-4 laps on a race track, before they're greasy from the heat. I used the Cup2Rs for a track weekend with a 991.1 GT3. They were amazing all four 30-minute sessions on the Saturday and the first session on Sunday. After three laps in the second Sunday session, they literally the fell off a cliff, and were not even as sticky as a street tire. They were consistent all the way to the end of 30 minutes for the sessions when they were sticky, but were basically toast after 2.5 hours of track time... at $2800 a set, that's a very expensive 2.5 hours. You need very deep pockets to use them. Trofeos are like that too.

Very helpful thanks. Think I'll try the C2R next. Sounds like Cup 2s may be the best all around tire if you're running 20s. Maybe the Dunlops?

The best all around tire for stock 20's is the Goodyear F1 SC3. Rumors are that they should be avail. in March

Should have clarified best all around tire for the track. Speed/heat soak/durability etc. Do you think the SC3 is a better track tire than the Cup2? I've heard the Dunlop SMR2 has the same or very similar compound to the SC3R, not sure if anyone can confirm. I don't drive my 718 on the street so I'm just looking for a consistent track tire that can take some abuse.

I don't track but from what I have read by many on the Camaro SS 1LE track section board (which uses the SC3 as the stock tire, and that I have previously), they stick the same as the Cup 2's, have a wider heat range, last throughout their whole tread life, and this I know personally, have much stiffer sidewalls for much better lateral stability.

I guess I don't understand why you would. Beez said they're basically good for one day. At $700+ per tire, doesn't seem like the best option to me. That's 19" Pirelli slicks money and the slicks would last longer.

But if the intention is to just try them, go for it. I've used Cup2, SC3, RT660, DH scrubs, 71RS. So far would buy SC3/RT/RS again, but want to try others first. May go R7 next.

What paffinity said.

And here is all the tire info you can stand. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/ar...-buyers-guide/

That’s it, just may want to try them. I like the Cup2, just wish it were a bit faster. With 20s you can’t run 660s, 71RS, CECF, etc. Right now seems like you can get Cup2s, 2Rs, A052s, SMR2 and R7s in 20s. I’ll probably move to 18s or 19s as I get through initial set up and sorting to have more options. I know the Rs are expensive but with about $25k of prep work to the car, a few hundred bucks experimenting with tires isn’t that big of deal.

I’ve seen the GRM guide and have read some of their comparisons as well as the Tirerack tests which are good because they have same day lap times though I’m not sure they swap between the cars. I appreciate all of the knowledge here and like listening to the firsthand accounts then synthesize it for my use. There is a lot of incomplete and contradictory info out there then you throw in differences in tracks, climate, driver’s skill, car setup etc, the more data and firsthand accounts the better imo. Thanks for the info guys.

ContiECF, forgot I have those mounted as well.

I can respect that, it’s fun trying out new things. Please do share how it goes with them.

Speaking of wheels, Apex just released the forged SM10RS and there’s a group buy with decent discount. I myself have a set of the VS-5RS and I actually like them more than the Forgelines I have.

For the track I personally like the sc3 over the sc2. I'm faster on the sc3 vs sc2 and they last longer and they are cheaper. Sc3r are fantastic, but will burn through them in a weekend.

I saw those, correct widths in 18s. I like the Apex wheels, they’re at the top of my list.

That’s very good to hear, I’d buy those in a heartbeat but it seems the rears are never available! Although above, TRzo6 says they’re coming soon. Will absolutely be trying them when I can find them.

My cleaning lady told me SC3R was supposed to be in production a month ago, but apparently he was wrong
