I have ridden in a 981 GT4 with the 4.5L. I believe it had a 991 GT3 muffler, it sounded much better than this. In that video to me it sounds like its missing half its tonal range. Just my opinion though.

Interesting, Farrah seems to indicate in the video that the chassis and suspension exceeds the capability of the stock engine. I’d probably upgrade the suspension if I was going to add an additional 120+ HP but its nice to know the chassis and suspension still feels good with the increased engine performance,

In no way does the spring rates and damping on the GT4/Spyder exceed the capabilities of the stock engine let alone the 4.5L. Thats just pure lunacy. The chassis is the key - its very good, but the weak links are the springs and PASM and dampers and they really disappoint. You would be right to think with that much HP to do the suspension AND the brakes if you wanted to get the most out the platform for your money. Matt didnt do it because he wanted a modern A/C Cobra! Thats it and thats what he got with nice seats and air con. Any half way comparable driver with a properly set up car with coilovers and proper spring rates would run rings around Matts car on the track or in the canyons. Power only gets you so far. This is why in many ways the GT4RS is much more compelling car than the 4.5L unless you go all the way with it like some here have ^^^^.

His car's sound doesn't appeal to me. Too much bass in the tone and doesn't sound exotic, just loud.

It's not the best sound in the world but I've run race headers on the stock exhaust (both with straight through OAPs or catted ones) and it does have something IRL that's kind of aggressive and serious sounding. It doesn't wail like a GT3 however.

But the one trick the stock exhaust can do is be totally calm and sedate with zero drone when you close the valves. It's very close to stock even without any cats or filters. The aftermarket solutions that sound better and free up 10-15 HP are a lot harder to live with.

There is something off about how Matt captured the sound in his video. I have heard many DeMan 4.5's both from the cockpit, from the sidelines and with different exhausts and headers. They all sound glorious and nothing like that video. I noticed that most of his cockpit video sounds good but the drive-by clips are not good. There are many other videos about these cars. Use those others if you want to form a real opinion.

718 4.5s, or 981 4.5s? Did they also have the stock muffler? While lower toned than most, I'm hearing low, mid, and high tones (sounds like my 981 when "bliping"), as engine speed climbs. But I'm listening via C-J tube Amp, Chord Qtest, and Totems. I wonder which component in the exhaust chain make most difference to the tone?
