unfortunately, whilst I can recognise some of what you’re saying (have also driven 997, 991.1, 991.2, and 992 as well as 718), it’s simply not true that you can be an average driver and be fast

it all comes down to what you think fast is

if you’re at the ring and sub7 in a 991.1, you’ll be quicker in the 991.2, and quicker again in the 992

but if you’re doing 7.30 in a 991.1 (like so many GT3 drivers do), you’re simply slow. So you’re slow in a 991.1, slow in a 991.2, and slow in a 992

The cars are getting better, and safer to drive more quickly. Fact. Anyone can tell you that

But a fast car doesn’t make an average driver fast. The 992 will make an average driver faster, but not necessarily fast

id expect the fastest 4RS amateur drivers to be around 7min - 7.05 at the ring

the fastest 992s will be 6.45 - 6.50

if you’re slower than 7.15, then you’re slower than a number of amateurs in GT4s can do it
Ring is not the only track on earth, and it’s a complete anomaly. I find it hilarious how people are so fixated on that place. Don’t get me wrong I love it, but people take it to such an extreme as if nothing else matters. A driver is bad unless they run X at the Ring. A car is bad unless it runs X on the Ring. It’s ridiculous.

Every other track on earth is 2-4 miles in length producing lap times between 1:00- 2:30 minutes. All other tracks can be learned after a session or 2 and if you have skill can be up to speed quickly. I stand by my comments that on most tracks anyone with a small amount of experience who is somewhat skilled will be shockingly quick in the 992 GT3, above their skill level honestly, because it’s such an easy car to confidently drive fast. And that is off the showroom floor as it was made, not taken to Manthey or whoever to continue to tweak it. Are they going to be as fast as a Pro? Of course not, but the delta with this car will be less because of how easy it is to drive fast

It’s not specific to the ring. Take any track, the principle applies

A fast driver in a 4RS will be quicker than an amateur in a GT3, but the GT3 is the quicker car

Driving any GT3 on the limit of grip is not easy. There is little warning between “has traction” and “are sliding”. People saying it’s “easy” are clearly nowhere near the limit of the car, so they may think they’re fast, but they are not

What is true is that the speed of the accident get’s higher, if someone’s pushing a car faster and faster until they hit their own limit…

Thumbs up 3000 Miles in Porsche's 911 GT3 Touring (992) - Is it Perfect? | 4K

Guys,

I watch a lot of YouTube videos as they do in many cases give excellent reviews on Porsche Performance Cars.

The below of the Porsche 911 GT3 (Touring) to me was impressive.
