Indeed it is. I was just pointing out that most of the folks buying one of these don't have to work that much harder to offset $15-20k ADM. If they have to work at all.

Well, it is a 30g car with 50g of extra cost for performance bits and badges with a slightly upgraded interior. Same recipe as every manufacturer making a hot model of an entry level car. Just go step into a mitsu evo X if you want to experience the full effect of a dogshiat 15g car interior in a car that cost $$$. What a turd of an interior those things have.

I've never wanted a new M model because the performance increase was never enough to justify the price. I always thought if I was going to buy a M car, i'd be crazy to when I can just spend the same amount on a Porsche and have something more special and to me more enjoyable. My neighbour has a m5 comp and I didn't even notice it was a m5 comp for a year lol. I figured it was just a normal whatever bmw.

Not necessarily. When I bought my Spyder in 2020, I, too, could have afforded something more, but that doesn't mean I would have gotten a car in which the actual driving and ownership experience would have been significantly better, all things considered. Full blown exotics are often more about owning them as trophy cars vs actually driving them. I have found that with material goods, you really get diminishing returns the higher up the cost food chain you go. There is a sweet spot where you are really getting something great for what you are paying, and that is where you want to be all the time. Unless, of course, you are stupid rich and can just afford anything, and can rent out a whole track for a day to drive your Ferrari, and hope it doesn't break and spend the next month waiting for a part that no amount of money will get you any sooner.

Anyway, the point is that we don't always just buy the max dollar car we can afford. Sometimes the best overall option isn't the most expensive one.

I don't think it's the actual cost, more the principle. However, this is also because, in the past, we have been used to getting prices discounted from MSRP. Now, it is the other way, where MSRP is the low starting point. It could have been this way all along. It is just a change in perspective.

The G wagen even in AMG guise has never made sense for suburban driving… cramped, limited cargo capacity, heavy AF, expensive, questionable reliability and zero fun to drive. A couple of friends who have G63 / G65s acknowledge they bought them primarily for the “cool” factor.

Give me a Turbo GT for $200K all day long- everything an enthusiast (or soccer mom with 2 kids or less) can ask for in an SUV-

Turbo GT is epic. It even has an epic name!! Those brakes are insane!! I wish someone would explain to me exactly what about the G-Wagon is cool. It is ugly, drives like crap, has a crappy interior design, horrible tech. Like....what is the appeal?

The above is what a market top looks like imo. Frankly I wouldn’t pay 100k for that SUV.

I just can't stop thinking about this. How did they get the MSRP to $350k+ to begin with??? Base MSRP is $180k, according to the MB USA website... I wish the whole Monroney sticker was visible.

It’s not a regular G Wagon. It’s a lifted 4x4 which are much more exclusive
