I have em and cant remember but maybe there was a slight intake sound change but cant be sure so probably not much. Remove the sound symposer while you are in the area - thats a nice change. I added some sound deading material to the area behind the seats and engine cover - an all of the above approach helped with the overall cabin sound quality in my GT4

Can't believe that people still fall for these cotton filters. Little or no performance gain, clogged MAF sensors, poor filtration, reduced engine life. Given the low/side position of the intakes on these cars, you really need good filtration.

I think the key point to all this is that maybe you should change the OEM filters at 5 or 10,000 miles instead of the 20,000 miles stated in the service schedule.

I installed a pair in my Spyder and did not notice a difference in sound, but I have headers, race exhaust, etc. so I did not really expect to. But Porsche uses them in other models and the roads I drive are not dusty or dirty and I have PCCBs so no real brake dust to speak of. After almost 4k miles my OEM filters looked brand new so the car will most likely survive.

I was mainly referring to the sound differences, not necessarily because they are dirty. In the referenced video, I can’t remember how many miles were on the car, but the original filters were fairly dirty for such a short period. Porsche says to change them every 20,000 miles. Sounds appropriate but as always, if you drive harder or in harsh conditions you should probably accelerate service intervals. My supposition (sp) is that maybe the intake sound is more muted as the filters get dirtier.

Using BMC filters for years but always combined with a tune, the advantage without a tune is doubtfull, unless you think it sounds better. My Spyder is quite loud, the extra intake sound isn't worth it (on my car). I remember putting them on my 981 years ago, which hadn't race headers on that time, just plain PSE (and tune was put on a few days later), the sound improovement was remarkable.

Yes, please tell that to the Porsche engineers so they can stop falling for the scam and putting them in the RS cars.

Some RS cars. RS car is track car, not the same exposure to dirt and environment as a road car. Most dedicated track cars have high flow cotton or foam filters.

You think the majority of RSs are driven on track? More than not will actually never see a track. Rather they'll be driven to an icecream parlor, starbucks, etc.

That is clean! 15k miles, wow. All the ones I've seen pulled are 2X dirtier. These things get dirty quick. Everyone you need to change your airfilters!
I like BMC. For the money, it is the least expensive way to gain 1-2 hp!

So, is the GT3 also a track car?

Well it aint a grand tourer. Plus doesn't have side intakes to pick up dust and grime from the wheels.
Not going to keep arguing the fact. Facts are what they are. Enjoy.
