GT4 RS Driving Impressions

I am sure that all the one-eyed fans will now blast this outcome because it upsets their idealised view of the car....but, if you are open minded, you cannot discount the opinions of these testers as they are probably one of the most experienced bunch of drivers/testers on the planet. The important thing is that it is a genuinely objective, points based outcome where not one driver rated the GT4 RS first.
The only mitigating circumstance, which they admit in the magazine article, is that the order may have been a bit different if a track component was included but it wasn't. As a person who has driven the 4 RS quite a bit and has an April build slot next year, I am not one-eyed, and accept their outcome for what it is. It just means that like every car, it has it very good points and its not so good points.

GT4RS slammed hard by Evo for handling on non-ideal road surfaces. No punches pulled.
Cue trz and dnimi. lol

and yes, no track component from evo. Hence the MC20 doing so well.

No Porsche RS car has won eCOTY other than the 997 generation.
Are RS models too extreme? Sure.
The journalism is absolutely fair, and they state their rationale very clearly. Ultimately, it helps potential customers have a better understanding of what they might be getting with the car.
Do not expect the GT4 RS to be great on all roads. Do expect it to be awesome on track and smooth roads. And expect it to be loud!
Customers that know its strengths and flaws will be buying something really special. Not all things to all people. But for some…

And btw, the 991.1 GT3 is far softer than 992 GT3 (and likely 4RS also).

They just happen to do these tests on the one type of road that the Cayman syspension doesn't like. Doesn't make it a worse car for most people who dron't drive there.

Sold my 992 GT3 for the GT4RS. Initially breaking in the 4RS feels just like any other 718 and older 991 platform GT car, but a lot stiffer.
After driving it hard I definitely prefer the GT4RS, it feels like a sweet spot in 2022, with more mechanical and analog feel, just like the 997.2 RS having air cooled parts and mezger engine in 2011.
What did it for me is the noise, when you ring it up to 9k it sounds better than any GT car I’ve experienced. The way the PDK shifts is different to a GT3, combined with the engine/shorter gearing, it feels more sharp, more responsive and more explosive.
But what GT4RS does better than the GT3 is all fast driving and engagement, everything else GT3 is better. The GT4RS is horrible on the street, it rides rougher than a 10 year old + 997 GT3, and it’s way too clunky. EVO magazine confirmed this as well, I believe the achilles heel of the GT4RS is the suspension/shocks. If you want to commute, drive around town get the GT3.
Will report back after its been on track to comment about on the limit dynamics.

@bobodrink Thx! Quality feedback. I also own a 997.2 RS and am looking forward to the GT4RS. When on the road with the 7.2RS i have it always on the stiffer setting, only Autobahn and City i go soft. Mainly because at the AB on higher speeds you simply need the softer setup to handle longer streched bumps. That's why i am so sceptical about their judgement. To be too harsh it needs to be A LOT harsher than the old RSs. Am looking forward to the comparison!

Pretty much. Stupid. #2 for them was a Toyota if you want to carry that thought further. But hey putting stupid stuff out tot get more views is a strategy. I just put 400 miles in 2 days on my GT4RS on twisty roads still being gentle given break in of the engine. It's magnificent - pure magic. It gives me much more back than my 992 GT3 ever could which smaller packaging and without a digital dash. The sound cannot be understood by watching youtube - its the best sounding car ever.
