Only problem with these is that you had to have been in the military, work in the military sector, or have a close family that has served. Not an option for someone like me unfortunetly.

Sorry I missed this. I applied in 2020. I joined north Carolina consumer council.. It was 25 dollars. I believe it was as a one time fee. Im n NY. The only thing is everything needs to be done with membership via regular mail, but no big deal (the credit union that is)

Navy Federal, yes; however, PenFed is now open to everyone. As long as you’re a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the United States, you can join Pentagon Federal Credit Union by simply funding a savings account with at least $5.

@eshney @Xxyion @usctrojanGT3 i signed up for the NCconsumer council and got my member info right away but looks like opening a savings account with the credit union will take at least a week if not more because of mail in application and verification of deposit (i would plan accordingly).

Cheers, Mike

My wife is waiting for her application packet from Carolina CU right now. It's a race between if she'll be able to get her account set up first or if Porsche will send her Bose amp to be united with her Macan that's been sitting at the dealer first.

Bad news for anyone out of state and not in the immediate area of North Carolina. North Carolina Cooperative will only do Auto Loans for those who reside in the state or surrounding area. I wonder if there are any ways around it, like if you have any immediate family in the area then they will make an exception or something.

Did they tell you that personally? The site just says they don't refinance for out of staters.
