Why the gripe?

Same as the Boxster 25th.

Not everyone’s cup of tea but if you like the cosmetic and package bits it’s usually cheaper than trying to recreate via the option list.

Numbered cars always do well, this one will also.

Lots of chatter on the 992 forum.

Color me differently … I think it looks good.
And with only 115 built, it will hold value.

Porsche seems to be of the mind that a 7 speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive make a car 'special' these days. Oh, and stickers and little plaques.

Most of these specials are goofy, but this one's extra awful looking. Not as bad as the ridiculous Endurance Racing Edition mind you, but ugly just the same.

I agree, if there is such a thing as a generic GTS Targa. Some of the Targas I see lately come close to being as beautiful as our Spyders. Close.

I like the latest targa, quite a bit, but close to the spyder?

But I'll award it Best Looking 911 Award, for sure.

While on the subject of ‘too many special editions’ I would add the Boxster 25th Year Edition to it as well. Adds nothing special to the model line, purely cosmetic, essentially identical to GTS 4.0.

Porsche loves to milk the model line ups. There is no need to have 50 911 models, or any other chassis for that matter.

This car is a hideous monstrosity. But I do sincerely applaud Porsche for trying to bring white wheels back into style.

It's time for white wheels to be cool again! Down with black wheels. Long live white wheels!

Why is Porsche complicating things, they cant even get on top of manufacturing with the rest of their models being in short supply world wide.

I’m not following your logic. Porsche produces 911s every day, 10s of thousands a year. These aren’t really any different. Ordering 115 special decals and putting a different thread in the bobbin is called Monday.

Pretty sure the GTS America Cab design team has different members than the supply chain crisis team.

Short supply? PAG sold more cars in 2021 than ever in it’s history…including 911s.

Porsche sold out dealer inventory in 2021. Sales is not production. Production is another story. It was down in 2021, and again in Q1 2022 (25% YoY in the US).

But I agree, this is nothing. And it’s just another part of Porsche’s transition to a lifestyle brand.

Perhaps we’re saying the same thing.

Porsche reports on quarterly/annual deliveries…which seems the same as sales.

In 2021 it was a record year for deliveries, both overall and for the 911.

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2022...ide-27003.html

“The sports car icon, the 911, was also handed over to more customers than ever before with 38,464 deliveries.“

Yes, Q1
was down for war related supply chain issues.

Yes, sales were up slightly in 2021, but that was because dealers sold down their inventory to nothing. Production was down. If you sell 38,000 cars, but inventory declines by 10,000, you produced about 28,000 cars. Production has been down for over a year.
