Too many Special Editions?

I’m not following your logic. Porsche produces 911s every day, 10s of thousands a year. These aren’t really any different. Ordering 115 special decals and putting a different thread in the bobbin is called Monday.
Pretty sure the GTS America Cab design team has different members than the supply chain crisis team.
Short supply? PAG sold more cars in 2021 than ever in it’s history…including 911s.

If production capacity is restrained by supply chain limitation, Porsche will prioritize special editions to maximize profitability on their end over the standard models. Sucks from an enthusiasts POV, but great from a collectors. Porsche isn't stupid... they need to make money and even though demand for standard models are at a all time high, they have shareholders to please. From a business standpoint, makes sense. It's not long term sustainable though.

I guess going forward it’ll be easier to determine as showrooms have been empty for awhile; so deliveries almost same as production. Although some production occurs QTR before reporting.
That’s what we saw in Q1.

Perhaps we’re saying the same thing.
Porsche reports on quarterly/annual deliveries…which seems the same as sales.
In 2021 it was a record year for deliveries, both overall and for the 911.

“The sports car icon, the 911, was also handed over to more customers than ever before with 38,464 deliveries.“
Yes, Q1 was down for war related supply chain issues.
