I have a 987 Boxster Bimini Cover that I use on my 2017, fits like your linked post shows, not perfect but good for non-rainy use or indoors, this post has the details and a link to a listing for a Spyder version:
What did you buy your 718 today? - Page 51 - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums
It looks like the forum has buggered up the link in that thread, here it is again: 2016 Porsche Boxster | Car & Truck | Vehicle Covers | Specialty Covers | Search (coveritcanada.ca)
To be clear, I have not ordered that latest version, and they don't show a picture of what it looks like.

I live in New England and I assume you have similar weather, salted pot holed roads. That would be more of a concern for me w/little road clearance than the top.

Thanks to @Westcoast ’s successful experiment, I’ve also managed to shave even more time off opening and closing the top with the SmartTop module. Now I can unlatch the top and pop the back trunk with three clicks of unlock and I can close the latch with three clicks of lock. All outside the car without the key in the ignition. I’ve paid a few hundred for what the rest of the world gets by default 😃

Thankfully my top is loose so just have to reach in and close.
I expect the SmartTop only closes the loose ones.

in terms of closing, it’s pretty easy to push down on the top from outside the car if needed. Mine is loosening up but sometimes needs some slight pressure.
The SmartTop is totally unnecessary but I wanted to try it out anyway.

I think the remote top latching is worth something! I also like the window controls, the ability to control the lock/unlock chirps and auto-mute of the radio at startup to name a few...

Crazy or amazing? The Boxster roof is a brilliant unit and affords all sort of convenience around your drive, the Spyder roof looks the part does the job and still allows access to the full top speed of the car, not bad either.

Stupid question, but for NA Spyders:
- assume you need car either turned on, or in accessory mode with key in to unlatch roof?
- assume to close roof and latch back up, you need to have same process of having the key involved in some form?
Just made me think it is too bad if this is indeed the case, as it seems odd when parking with roof open, one with get out and start the roof process but then at the end I guess you need to leave the key in the accessory mode in order to power the latch closing step. I thought you would get otu with the key in your pocket as normal but then realized it likely requires you to leave the key in the car. I also thought PE&D would maybe negate that but remembered it doesn't have that LOL
