I'll take the other side. This forum places a huge amount of emphasis on the gt4 as "the best". Which really only applies to track work, or some extremely serious canyon efforts. The gts 4.0 has a lot more daily comforts, and the difference in suspension performance for most lawful driving off-track is just not that large. The gt4 isn't especially great on rough roads. That's the compromise for more track performance. Same conversation on the 911 side. Folks all wrapped up in the "the best" and then whine incessantly on how the new cars are too stiff and fidgety on their local roads.

The gts deserves more respect.

They completely contradict themselves from their original review as far as the negatives go....mainly the mid corner bump steer.

Maybe wider tires like in the GT4 would help. I have a CGTS and didn't notice any deficiencies at first but now with adding power (exhaust/headers) I'm starting to notice the same. Going to be upgrading the tires soon and then anything else that may help.

Its hard for the GTS 4.0 to be "great" when the GT4 exists...

That complaint with the suspension has been heard before. The plump Brit and the bald Swede on YouTube have the same complaint.

Whether the GTS suspension is great or meh, there is something that surprises me. There is virtually no discussion about upgrading the suspension on this forum. I know some people change the black box for the stability control. I might consider that.

However, I’m surprised no one talks about replacing springs, dampers, antiroll bars and bushings.

I’m also surprised not to see anyone mention installing GT4 suspension parts on the GTS. May not be possible or may require replacing the entire suspension but no one even mentions it. Odd.

Maybe that’s because GTS buyers consciously opted for the good enough suspension rather than getting a GT4. (And I bought a GTS by the way.) Or maybe it’s because suspension mods would eliminate the computerized suspension.

Regardless, I have my dream car.

Either there was something wrong with the press car, or maybe Porsche had to reduce their bribe - excuse me, advertising - budget due to COVID this year.

I can't stand how inconsistent car magazines are. The worst is when they do the laudatory send-off of the outgoing model generation - writing an article about how fantastic it is, a modern classic riding into the sunset, etc. - and then a year later, the very first review of the new generation lists a bunch of supposedly well-known flaws in the old one that somehow they never bothered to previously report in all their reviews over 7 years. The industry is a joke.

kind of feels like you’ve got a billion in cash stashed in your basement and you complain that a few of the $100 bills are wrinkled and you wish the cash mountain was upstairs so you didn’t have to do the stairs before heading to the strip club. need to find something to write….

Porsche should have the GT department build a couple of models to show the GTS designers how it's done. Oh... wait.

Price wise the GTS is so near the holy grail cars maybe it's best to suck it up and spend the extra dough.

+1, don't want to hurt any feelings but the price is so close to a GT4, may as well just get the GT4 to get the full GT car experience.

We purchased a slightly used CGTS and I would like to track it some. I've spent some time searching for suspension upgrades to at least allow better camber adjustment. As you stated, I can't find any discussion of suspension upgrades and when I go to manufacturers websites, I can't determine what if anything is compatible with the GTS suspension. I'm not in a rush, as we've only recently taken possession of the car. I figure I will need to make some phone calls to determine what can be done.

I suspect that even if the cars were the same price, there would be some people who would still opt for the GTS (not many, but some). The softer suspension and lack of rear wing are enough to convince some to get into a GTS as is, without the 20k difference. The front of the GT4 is money though

Exactly!! I would not have convinced my wife that we should get a GT4, even if it was the same price.

The lack of door handle on the inside of the GT4 makes me laugh. "We have to remove this 5lbs handle for weight savings, but we can still have dual zone climate control and bose sound!"... It's these kinds of things that make me think the GTS is the much better overall car for me when compared to the GT4. There are guys in this thread who much prefer the GT4, so we can see why Porsche offers both versions and everyone can be happy

I would've gotten the spyder if it had an auto top. I know sounds dumb, but its 99% daily driver and i love being able to flip it on/off easily.

I was discussing with slilley that this review was surprisingly negative and looks even weirder when you consider the other reviews they have for variants of the 982. They have the word 'Perfect' referenced three times in six review titles
