For this mod, you will need these parts:Preparation
  1. Take apart the GT4 manual shift ****. There are two clips on the underside of the boot that you simply need to release and it comes apart.
  2. Take apart the 992 GT3 PDK shift ****. This one is very challenging, requiring you to push out tabs on each side simultaneously and then pulling on the **** to get it apart from its base. I will get pictures of this and add to this post.
  3. Mount the 992 GT3 PDK shift **** on the GT4 manual shift boot and push the new **** and it's base together in reverse of how you pulled them apart.
  4. You should now have a complete 992 GT3 PDK **** on your GT4 manual shift boot.
Removal
  1. Use a trim tool to detach the center console pieces on each side. You do not need to completely remove each side panel, just enough to expose the (4) holes under the console switches.
  2. Locate the (4) holes, (2) on each side underneath the console switches.
  3. Insert a flat head screwdriver into each hole, one at a time, under the console switches and push inward until the locking tab releases.
  4. Work the console switches panel up and remove.
  5. Turn the base collar of the existing PDK shift **** clockwise and then push PDK button down to release ****. Pull up and off. Here's a video
  6. Reach under the PDK shift base plate and push upwards to remove. It is a pressure fitting and will move with subtle force.
  7. Disconnect the plug for the door lock and hazard button.
Installation
  1. Move the door lock and hazard buttons to the new trim piece.
  2. Install the new GT4 manual shift boot and 992 PDK shift ****. Be careful to slide the bottom portion of the trim panel (closest to you) in first before pushing the panel down. It can only go in one way.
  3. Reconnect the door lock and hazard buttons to the connector and install the trim piece. It simply pushes straight down.
  4. Re-install the console buttons, again pushing down.
  5. Push the left and right-hand center console pieces back in place.
  6. You're done! Congrats!
Review:
It looks fabulous and feels even better. It's going to be fun confusing the onlookers at the next cars and coffee gathering!

Note:
I had a problem with my new GT4 manual shift **** boot whereas one of the threads of silver stitching started to unravel. I tried to sew it myself and it began getting worse, so I took it to an automotive upholstery shop and they said they would have to take the entire thing apart to fix it and couldn't guarantee they could match the silver stitching. They recommended having it replaced. I sent the boot back to Porsche and an awaiting a warranty replacement. Since it will take ~6 weeks, I will continue driving my car with the 992 GT3 shift **** and no boot.

The silver stitching started to unravel in this one area

This is incredible! Thanks for sharing. May I ask what you had in parts cost for the complete swap?

The **** is the most expensive part at about $600 ($565 at Delaware Porsche Parts) and most likely will have to be special ordered so it would take a while to get here.

I did a manual swap so I just needed the ****, but I am sure the person who did the PDK swap will chime in soon.

I provided links to the exact parts needed in the very 1st part of this post so you can see the exact costs. My total cost was around $1,100, but I'd bet prices are about to go up with the new year.

For this mod, you will need these parts:

If the 718 GT4 RS PDK shift **** & boot also fit, I think both time and money can be saved. Does anyone know?

I've asked the dealership where I got my Spyder, but they could not find the RS shift ****&boot ... I was told it is easier to find part numbers from a VIN. They did not have any RS coming at the time. I'll be back next year.

You are correct, the GT4 RS **** and boot will fit and should end up around $600; so a lot less expensive and without requiring the disassembly/reassembly. The RS wasn’t yet released when I started this project so I didn’t know it would be a potential future option. Once that part gets released it will be a lot easier for anyone who wants this mod.

Please post any updates you find, including part numbers. I also checked in with my local dealership on parts and we couldn’t find anything. This mod is on my list!

Appreciate the kudos...some love what I do and others hate it, but I like to make things my own. I do not want to hijack this thread but it seems you saw my last custom interior, in the Miami Blue Targa GTS I had?

I think it would work. The GT3 PDK lever looks exactly like the GT4, so I don’t see why not.

Went to order 9GT711141DRM (992 PDK **** with black boot/red stitching) but local dealer said there is no ETA. He said they could order it but he didnt seem confident over phone.

Anyone know the deal?
