@Super Stroby

Quick off-topic question . . . what color is your car? Might just be the lighting in the Avatar, but it looks like a greenish-grey?

Default Restitched Boot

My dealer, Southampton Porsche, sourced the GT4RS boot and had it restitched with matching Guards Red thread.

Your dealer has no experience.

981 GT4 PDK
982 GT4RS
991.1 GTS
991.1 GT3
991.1 GT3 RS
991.2 GTS
991.2 GT3
991.2 GT3 RS
991.2 GT2 RS

For argument sake, is all identical for this particular part.
Anyone tried to assemble the GT4-RS shift-**** into a 981 Base/S or GTS and can confirm that it fits?
Thanks in advance

If your shifter looks like this, then yes it will fit.

Thanks, ordered one a few minutes ago, lets see how it fits in a 981.

Does someone know what is needed to change the PDK shifting directions (+/-) to match the new boot? I read Cobb offers this, is it their ~$2000 access port module?

You also need to change the "face plate" on the instrument cluster if you are going to "reverse" it to match the GT cars.

I wouldn't do it, not worth the hassle and money. It doesn't make the car drive differently.

What am I missing here . . . are you saying the GTS 4.0 manual mode shifting is forward/upshift and backward/downshift???

It has been a couple years since I owned my GTS 2.5T PDK . . . I was 100% certain the manual mode had the same shift pattern as my GT4, but this post has me asking myself if I am losing my mind?

I believe its the GT4 RS where the PDK change direction is different to match normal racing sequential gear boxes. hence the new lettering on the shifter.

The change in direction came well before the 4RS but I believe it wasn’t across the model line. My ‘21 is back to upshift. I assumed this applied to, at least the 4.0 but sounds like that may not be the case.

that said, I’m guessing that many use paddles only, so may not be aware of the direction/action of the console lever

OK, now I feel like I am losing my mind . . .

I am in PDK manual most almost exclusively and use the shifter to shift exclusively. My GT4 has always been back/upshift and forward/downshift. The GT4 RS shifter is labeled accordingly. My GTS 2.5T was the same.

What am I missing here? Is the GTS 4.0 different?

This shifter fits not just on GT cars where Up is down, Down is up.

Non-GT cars don't have a "reverse" shift like GT cars where Up is up, Down is down.

Thank you

This brings me back to my original post on topic . . . it’s been a couple years since I parted ways with my GTS 2.5T. By recollection, I would swear down was upshift and up was downshift (exactly like my GT4). Is my recollection completely wrong, or did Porsche change it for GTS 4.0?

This is only true for cars pre-718. All 718s with PDK have the same shift lever “pattern” as GT cars.
